The Gingham Jacket For Spring

I 100% contradicted myself when I said I wasn’t really preppy anymore. But when you find an amazing gingham jacket, you HAVE to get it. Right?

So last week, I was “so” edgy in my denim jacket and booties. But…London brought out all things prep in me. All about balance, right?

I found this adorable gingham jacket right before my trip to London and knew it would be perfect for the trip. I’m a huge fan of gingham. There’s obviously something so classic about it. Like most, I tend to gravitate towards gingham pieces during warmer months. But I don’t necessarily think it can only be worn when the sun is out.

As much as I love fall and winter, there’s nothing quite like a perfect spring outfit. (Hint: It definitely involves this gingham jacket.)

I wanted to do something a bit more fun for this look, so instead of wearing any ol’ pair of ballet flats, I decided to wear my new floral loafers. Literally obsessed with them. I actually am about to buy them in the black as we speak.

My two new pieces complement each other well, and I liked the idea of pattern mixing. Don’t you just LOVE when pieces come together like that?

I know I’m going to be wearing this look well into the warmer months because 1. It’s so easy and 2. It keeps me warm on chilly days/nights without having to really layer up. Although, right now it doesn’t feel like warm weather is going to get here any time soon. This weekend was SO cold, I couldn’t even take my hands out of my pockets without them stinging!

More about London…

Tower Bridge was actually one of my favorite spots to shoot. Oh minus the fact that it was 6:30am and raining when we got there. Luckily, we stuck around for about a half hour in a Starbucks and waited for the rain to stop. WE HAD PLANS AND THE RAIN WAS NOT GOING TO STOP US. After we shot here, we changed and headed over to Peggy Porschen for our second shoot of the day…and lots of cake for breakfast. You can see more on that in this post.

Thank you! OMG you need some pieces! I’d start with a classic gingham shirt and then work your way to other fun pieces.
