KEEPIN’ THE CLASSICS

No matter where fashion goes, there will always be the classics to turn to.

As I’m getting older, I’ve realized the importance of quality over quantity. Meaning: If I’m going to blow my paycheck, it better be on something that will last me for years and years. Today, I want to talk about a few pieces that are easily classics in my book (and hopefully yours too!).

CHANEL BALLET FLATS: For years (literally, years), I’ve wanted a pair of Chanel cap toe flats. They scream classic and chic and pretty and amazing and every other good adjective in the book. But, I never thought I would spend the money on them – I even tried them on countless times and always left the store empty handed.

But then my wonderful guy surprised me with a black box on Christmas Eve and I almost cried of happiness. FINALLY THEY WERE MINE!

If you’re looking to purchase a pair of Chanel flats, but don’t want to pay full-price some good suggestions are: TheRealReal, eBay, and Gilt (if you’re lucky) – the only negative side of this is that the shoes may be too used for your liking OR your size never pops up. But hey, if you have the patience, then go for it!

TRENCH COAT: On my 21st birthday, my parents asked me what I wanted for my birthday. And I picked out this Brooks Brothers trench coat. Two years later, this coat has seen a lot of stormy weather, but also some nice Spring weater too. It’s the perfect coat for a young adult looking to invest in some quality pieces!

I love the idea of a trench coat with jeans or a little black dress. It’s so timeless, and not to mention, really practical when it’s raining 😉

A GOOD, NO, GREAT, PAIR OF DENIM: Thank god my sister worked in the denim department at Bloomingdale’s when she was in college. She really showed me the importance of good denim. I know designer denim seems really overpriced, but when you have them for years, you can’t help but justify the purchase.

Some of my favorite brands: 7 For All Mankind, Paige, J.Brand, Citizens of Humanity, and most recently, rag & bone. They all hold up really well no matter what style/wash you get! I definitely recommend investing in a great pair (or two) of denim! I’ve had most of my designer denim for 5+ years!

These rag & bone jeans are so perfect for me! They came in my first trunk with Trunk Club (thanks Kirbs!), and as soon as I tried them on, I knew I needed to have them. They’re high waisted so they help elongate my legs. They’re also super skinny on the bottom, which I absolutely love. Sure, I probably could have gotten them hemmed, but I kind of loved how they scrunched up at the bottom.

And of course, while you’re wearing your classic pieces, I suggest mixing in some new trends. Like in this post. The beloved blanket scarf. Except, actually, I’ll probably wear blanket scarves for the rest of my life considering I own about 12 and they’re just so damn warm!

…so basically, they’re classic to me too 😉
