SPRING THINGS

I’m really starting to think Mother Mature is losing her mind — because there’s no other explanation for why I’m wearing a Canada Goose jacket mid-April.

Today I’m talking about some of the things I wish I was wearing every day. And until the weather warms up consistently, I’ll continue wearing cashmere and jackets and cursing Mother Nature out until she gets her sh*t together. UGH.

Swing dresses are my lifesaver during warmer months (worn last here). I get ridiculously hot (especially on the subway), so swing dresses help keep me cool and still manage to look decent. Pair them with fun sandals and a cardigan for a day at the office or fun lace up sandals for a night out with your friends.

Summer hats are perfect for messy hair days – I know you all have them too….those days when you just don’t feel like washing your hair (for the second or third time). I’m really into Panama hats because they’re a little bigger than a fedora and look cute with your hair down or in a low bun.

Statement earrings really help make any outfit a bit more fun. I’m all about the drop earrings right now (and always was to be honest, as seen here), but I’ve been seeing those crawlers on a bunch of girls and they look pretty damn cool. I love the way they look when my hair is up in a low bun or a funky top knot.

I always thought headbands looked weird on me until last summer. I threw one on for a random shoot, and then I started wearing them when I went down the shore. And then I kind of starting wearing them all the time. They’re also a good distraction for those second and third day of unwashed hair 😉

Chambray shirts are honestly something that can be worn year-round, obviously. But I really love them for the summer with skirts and denim shorts (yes, all about the Canadian tuxedo). They give off such a relaxed look and I think that’s the best Spring vibe 😉

OK, let’s talk about two-piece sets (last seen here). Seriously – what’s better than having a shirt and skirt or shorts   already picked out and matching?! It’s almost as easy as wearing a dress.

Distressed boyfriend shorts are probably the easiest things to throw on in the summer. Here I wore them with a blazer and heels to make them a little more dressed up, but then I also wear them with a t-shirt sandals. They’re so versatile and the distressed look adds a little fun to the mix.

A monochromatic look can go a long way. I think there’s something so chic about it. Unfortunately, sometimes it’s hard to pick the right shades of something or feel completely confident in a monochromatic look, which is why I broke it up by wearing a denim vest.  (PS: This was one of my favorite looks last summer!)
