Seattle, Washington – Where I Stayed And Why We Went

Last month, I packed up and headed to Seattle for a long weekend.

In February, Allie asked if I wanted to fly across the country to see some tulips (FYI, they were amazing). At first, I was hesitant, because like, why? But after thinking it through, we booked our flights and were set to travel three weeks later. We’re pretty spontaneous travelers. We booked our trip to London about three weeks before flying.

What We Did

Allie had found the Skagit Tulip Festival (which I’ll be sharing the amazing photos with you soon) on Instagram and obviously wanted to go. I’ve heard there’s a lot of other fun things to do in Seattle, so I was up for it! Plus, I knew Allie would get the best photos EVER. So yes, we did fly 3000 miles for a tulip festival. Technically.

We were obviously stoked to go to the famous Pike Place Market. I know it’s not super special, but I absolutely loved it. From the fresh flowers to the disgusting, yet awesome gum wall to the infamous fish throwing (I got to be right in the middle of it!), it’s just a great place! Definitely the highlight of our trip. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate with us for the rest of the trip – not surprised – so most of it was spent dodging the rain. This meant that we were eating and shopping;) We had a delicious meal at Purple Cafe and Wine Bar, a downtown restaurant I highly recommend!

Where We Stayed

I’ve always LOVED Kimpton Hotels. Matt and I stayed there when we went to Chicago, and we LOVED it. Not only for the location, but the staff was incredible. Whenever I travel, I always check to see if there’s a Kimpton location. I was stoked when I found out there were THREE Kimpton locations in Seattle. We chose to stay at The Palladian, and are VERY happy we did. You guys should have seen our faces when Allie and I found out our room had a beautiful tub in it. We squealed. And then the staff sent up bath salts. I mean, they were incredible.

The overall vibe of the hotel was very sophisticated. It was moody, classic, and edgy chic. The hotel was located just steps from the fun things to do in Seattle: The market and waterfront, tons of restaurants, boutiques, and cafes. We also had a chance to eat at the hotel’s restaurant, Shaker + Spear. I LOVE seafood, so I was so happy to see all of the amazing reviews. The scallops did not disappoint! The Palladian also was home to a speakeasy-style lounge…and I loved that!

When there was about 20 minutes of sunshine, we took the hotel bikes for a spin! It was fun to explore the area, even though it was for a short amount of time, and I loved that the hotel provided bikes to their guests!

Overall, I highly recommend staying at The Palladian Hotel! If you have any other questions about the hotel, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Thank you to Kimpton Hotels for hosting us during our stay!
