The New York Effect: Styling a Pleated Midi Skirt

I’ve always loved the quote, “There’s something in the New York City air that makes sleep useless.”

I fully believe in The New York Effect. And yes, I just made that up.

When people come to New York, or are born and raised here, they adapt to certain things: The disgusting heat of the subway in the summer, the panhandlers asking for money, the fun performances on the subway, walking ridiculously fast even if you’re not in a rush to get anywhere.

And now with the change in the weather, the New York Effect is in full force.

Over the weekend, New Yorkers were out and about. We found any reason to be outside: a walk to the store, bottomless brunch outside, or taking your workout outside! The best part? It looks like this weather is here to stay. *Praise hand emoji*

Now that the weather is finally cooperating, I’m actually excited to put together Spring looks. This pleated midi skirt was a perfect addition to my wardrobe. It’s light and airy and I love the pink. I decided to pair it with my New York Old Soul t-shirt from Knowlita because I’m all about a good casual and comfortable vibe. Obviously, you can wear a more formal top to make this a more dressed up look, but I wanted something different (which is good, as I mentioned here).

I’ve been into neck scarves lately (you’ll see more of them soon!), and I love how you can wear them different ways. They’re a great accessory to so many kinds of outfits…and really trendy, of course!
