Why You Need To Have A Uniform

Not enough people are talking about how we’re now in the thick of winter (plus the post-holiday blues), and getting dressed might be kind of tough. With the dropping temps (helloooo arctic blast in NYC), we need to dust off the part of our brain that is ready for the layers. I don’t know about you, but sometimes little nuances (like having to re-think an outfit because of the temperatures) really get to me — and ya know what? In 2025, I’m not going to let that ruin my mood while getting dressed. So let’s talk about the idea of an outfit uniform!

I just KNOW I’m not the only one who feels this way, so I thought of the idea to create “uniforms” for the next few months (and you’ll probably need some of these). I thought about the things I do the most of — and the idea of this uniform approach is that technically I’ll always have something to wear. These uniforms can be taken literally or just have fun picking bits and pieces from them based on what I’m feeling that particular day.

My Uniforms:

  • Weekend coffee walks
  • Errands
  • In office days
  • WFH days
  • Dinner dates and/or events

Weekend Coffee Walk Outfit Uniform

Basic Outfit Uniform
sweater // pants // scarf // bomber // beanie // boots (similar here) // sunglasses (similar) // gloves

There is truly nothing I cherish more than our weekends. I love waking up whenever we feel like it, get ready and go for a long walk to pick up coffee and then head to Central Park with Sal.

The easiest outfit formula for me is layers. I usually opt for a cashmere sweater (with a long sleeve tee under) paired with these pants from Frame. I actually cannot believe how much wear I’ve gotten out of these pants. They are INCREDIBLE, and I really love the way they look with pretty much every shoe I own — especially boots.

I like to pair this simple look with a nice coat or jacket. Here I opted in for my new wool bomber – it’s unlined and super oversized, making it perfect for, you guessed it, LAYERS!

Errands Outfit Uniform

Basic Outfit Uniform
beanie // sunglasses // sweater // jacket // bag // jeans // flats

This is a pretty standard outfit for me. I like feeling put together when I’m out and about, but don’t think it’s necessary to put too much thought into. During the winter, more layers are involved so I can have a bit more fun with beanies and scarves. Otherwise, I let either my earrings or jewelry pull this simple outfit together.

In Office Days

sweater // denim jacket (similar) // jeans // flats // bag (in suede) // bag charms // scarf

I’m lucky that I’m able to wear pretty much whatever I want to the office. On days where I just don’t want to think about my clothes, I opt for a chunky sweaterjeans, and a flat of some sort. I like to layer – usually a denim jacket and sometimes a blazer.

When I think about it, this outfit is probably my most worn combo.

WFH Days

I’m the person that absolutely needs to get dressed even when I’m WFH. I’m SO much more productive when I’m in real pants instead of sweats or leggings. My recent hack has been silky bottoms or a cozy set. It’s an easy hack that allows me to remain comfortable, but still put together like I have sh*t to get done!!! It’s always nice to feel a little polished and classic yet undone. When I’m picking silky bottoms, I always opt for a chunky sweater or cardigan.

And on my feet? My new UGG slippers. Comfort, always. DUH! Unless I need to head out — just need to add some new shoes and layer up. That’s what’s nice out these kinds of WFH outfits — you can absolutely wear them out and about!

Dinner Dates/Event Outfit Uniform

LEFT: sweater c/o // jeans // loafers (similar) // leopard coat (similar) // beanie (similar) // sunglasses
RIGHT: blazer (similar for less) // skort //sweater (similar) //boots (similar) // chanel bag // chrome hearts sunnies

I’m such a homebody that getting dressed for dinner, a night out, or an event gives me anxiety. Having this uniform helps give me one less thing to worry about! Luckily, most of my wardrobe is black, so putting an all black outfit together is kind of easy. The best part of an all black outfit is that it’s pretty much a blank slate – you can add a fun necklace, scarf, or earring!

In the winter, it’s fun to use your coat as the statement piece. I always grab my leopard coat from J.Crew (Poshmark find, similar here)! And then for fun, I decided to also throw in a dressier version in case those are the vibes! Throw on a long oversized coat over the blazer for extra warmth around my legs, and I’m ready to go!

Now that I’ve shared my “uniforms” with you – I hope either you’re inspired to create your own for the next few months or utilize my looks as outfit inspo! xx

Having a go-to outfit formula makes getting dressed so much easier! I stick to a neutral blazer and jeans combo, but I’d love to experiment with bolder colors.
