In true Pink Champagne Problems’ fashion, it was only right for me to attend the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic on the West coast.
Every year, there’s nothing I look forward to more than the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic in New York City. It’s by far my favorite event of the year, and something that’s on my calendar as soon as concrete dates are released. This year, I did something different: I decided to head to the Los Angeles event too! My apologies in advance for the photo overload, it’s too hard NOT to share all of them!
When I was invited to come out to Los Angeles by the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic team, I could not resist. I mean, I think we’re all very well aware that this event is very on brand for me. Now that I consider myself a seasoned veteran after attending four events, I wanted to give you a few reasons why you MUST attend at least one Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic in your life.
The fashion
As you can tell from previous events in New York (here and here), I wore something completely opposite this time around. I went a little boho, trying to be a little more edgy and “LA” so to speak. Thankfully, Zara came to my rescue and helped me dress the part. I had my outfit picked out relatively far in advance, so that was one less thing I needed to worry about. I will admit that I felt a bit out of place with the decor, but that’s the best part about the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic: Anything goes! It’s your opportunity to give your version of “Best Dressed” and take some fashion risks!
Create new memories
We were one of the first ones to arrive at Will Rogers Historic State Park (set in the mountains, too cool), so we immediately found prime seating for the match and waited for Jenn and Bob to arrive. One of the main reasons why I was so excited to go to Los Angeles for the event was so that I could see Jenn! Oh, and I FINALLY got to meet the infamous Bob (her husband and talented photographer). When we met, we both hugged each other and said how we felt like we knew each other already! Jenn and Bob are two of the most genuine people out there and it’s moments like that where I realize how thankful I am for this blogging community. Allie, Jenn, Bob and I had so much fun all day long, my mouth seriously hurt from smiling/laughing so much! It was the best spending the day with them and we even went out to dinner later on that night (more on that in an upcoming post)!
Those Instagram-worthy shots
I mean. These photos speak for themselves, no? You can see the New York City decor in this recap here. In Los Angeles, they had interactive photobooths that included a 360-degree platform as well as a regular photobooth that sent the photos right to your phone! Trust me, there’s no shortage of picture-perfect spots at either of the events.
Kick back and hang
Another different approach I had for this event was to just have fun. Normally, we’re so set on getting the perfect outfit photos and the perfect decor shots, but this time felt different. I guess it’s true what they say about Los Angeles being more laid back. So while we knew some “work” technically still needed to be done, I was more excited to just sit back and relax in the wonderful Rose Garden. It’s truly the best day and something that only comes around once (well, technically twice) a year. It’s a great way to do something new…unless you’re used to going to a polo match every weekend…but I don’t think that’s the case.
Learn something new
If you would have asked me about polo a few years ago, I would have looked at you like you had three heads. After attending a few of the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic events, I am slowly but surely getting the hang of polo. It’s really exciting and the announcer always gets everyone in the spirit! We had such great seats this time around (and it seems to be less crowded on the West coast), so I was REALLY into the match. Nacho Figueras is always really fun to watch and the horses are just absolutely beautiful.
If these reasons don’t convince you to get your butt to at least ONE Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic, I don’t know what will! It truly is one of my favorite events of the year filled with champagne, great photos and amazing company!
Um. I’m obsessed with your outfit and these photos! So glad you girls had a great trip! Counting down the days until they come back to NY!
