There’s nothing worse than having to put away some of your favorite items due to changing of the season. That’s why transitional wardrobe and versatile pieces are a must have in my own closet!
THE LOOK | top (on sale $45), black denim, pearl slides (similar here), bag (on sale), celine sunglasses
I know the Nordstrom Sale is all of the rage right now, and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t stock up on some great Fall products. When I’m shopping the Nordstrom sale, I like to keep an open mind, yet be realistic when it comes to spending money. That’s why I’m always looking for items that I can wear now AND wear when the temps cool down.
Enter this top and these jeans.
This top was a big surprise for me. I didn’t know how it was going to fit, but I ordered my regular size anyway. AND ENDED UP LOVING IT. It’s such an easy to wear top and I love the little swiss dot detail. It’s super flowy which means it hides my food baby;) I decided to pair it with black denim to create an easy, chic look for Casual Friday.
Come to think of it, transitional wardrobe pieces are SO important to have in your closet. So let’s talk about it.
They become your go-to pieces
When I find something that I love and can wear all year-round, it’s such a great win for me. This top, for example, can easily be worn with a simple cardigan or a great suede moto jacket. I think you all know what I’m going to choose to wear it with 9 times out of 10. I’ve also worn this top with super cute black culottes, and obviously can wear them with a regular pair of denim — or cutoffs in the summer! These types of pieces are the ones I really gravitate towards when I’m stuck in a fashion rut.
Show off your personal style
One of my favorite parts of pairing transitional wardrobe pieces with seasonal items is that it really helps me force myself to think outside the box. Figuring out how to wear a sweater (lightweight of course!) in the summer and a tank top in the dead of winter. It also proves just how versatile your personal style can be. The best thing about fashion is that it’s totally up for grabs. Everyone can be as unique as they want to be. Inspiration comes from anywhere, and I think seeing how others wear clothes does just that.
The cost per wear is fantastic
Besides the fact that the Nordstrom Sale has some pretty amazing deals, I know everyone here LOVES a good steal. This doesn’t necessarily mean that I got something for dirt cheap. It could mean that I needed to spend some money to get real quality pieces. Most of the time, my splurge items are cashmere (I picked up this poncho), shoes, and denim. With the exception of cashmere, most of the items I buy fall into the transitional wardrobe category. There’s nothing I love more than realizing what my cost per wear is. Definitely helps me feel like my money was very well spent.
What are some of your favorite transitional wardrobe pieces? How do you fit them into your seasonal wardrobe? I’d love to hear from you!

I am obsessed with this look lady! I feel as if it is SO you! Those shoes especially. I mean, could they be more fun? Also, love that you picked items you could wear now and later. I am all about that as well. Minus my suede sneakers, I feel like I could wear everything now too.

Thank you! I thought so too! Ripped jeans and a flowy top….all for it;) I think it’s important to have those pieces that you can wear right out of the box instead of having to put them in your closet until this heat goes away!
