Incorporating Colorful Clothes Into Your Wardrobe

When Matt handed me a newspaper wrapped present for my 25th birthday, I really had no idea what was inside. Little did I know, little red shoes were waiting for me inside the box.

THE LOOK | white top, denim c/o, gucci shoes (similar style), hat, necklace, bag c/o, celine sunglasses

I tore through the layers of newspaper (ugh, how cute is Matt, LOL), and saw the word, “Gucci” on a box. I looked up at Matt and said, “I’m gonna throw up.” I knew exactly what was going to be inside (didn’t know what color) even though I had no recollection of telling Matt I wanted them. I opened the box and pulled out the softest and prettiest red shoes. I really almost cried because I wasn’t expecting this to be my birthday present from him.

And now I’m the very proud owner of these beautiful Gucci Princetown mules. YAY!

Another reason why I love Matt so much is because he knows absolutely nothing about blogging, but is so supportive of me and this business venture. So when I was trying on the shoes, he told me he picked out the red so that I could add a pop of color to my outfits. LIKE COULD I HAVE BEEN BLESSED WITH ANYONE MORE PERFECT?! Probably not.

So here we are, my simple outfit with the perfect pop of color. When it comes to my personal style, I wouldn’t say I wear a ton of color. Most of my clothes are very neutral. It’s not that I wear a ton of black (with the exception of outfits like this), but I don’t really go out of my way to buy super bright colorful clothes. Obviously, on occasion I do like being fun and bright! For the most part, I stick to adding a pop of color to my outfit. This is why I think these pops are very important to have in your wardrobe! So here are my tips to incorporating colorful clothes into your wardrobe!

Start simple

First, you need to pick out what you’re actually wearing. Here, this simple white shirt and skinny jeans from Mott & Bow is the perfect example of a blank canvas look. Starting simple will make it easier to decide on what accessories you wear to add pops of color to your wardrobe.

What to steer clear of

When adding a pop of color to your wardrobe, it’s best to stay away from a lot of different patterns, colors, etc. This helps your look from getting too overwhelming. By wearing a simple look, you’re keeping things clean and classic…just adding some fun!

A few ways to add a pop of color

One of my favorite accessories to reach for as of late is a neck scarf. They’re so easy to wear and you can wear them in SO many ways.  They come in different colors, shapes, and sizes, so it’s definitely the easiest way to add a fun pop of color to your wardrobe! Shoes are (obviously) another fun way to add a pop of color to your wardrobe and can make an amazing statement. Other great pops of color include hats, purses and sunglasses!

First things first; how cute is your boyfriend?! Such a sweetie! Love the mules, and that shade of red is perfect!
I would really like to be more colorful so I’ve tried implementing small pops of color to my wardrobe (which is mostly black). I’m still just dipping my toes in, so I mostly like adding color through my shoes or my handbags. And lately I’ve also been really into scarves, they’re so versatile.
