A Weekend In Stowe, Vermont

If you know me, you know I’m a sucker for all things Fall.

I’m so lucky Allie agreed to make the journey up to Stowe, Vermont a few weekends ago. And then it was even better when Andrea decided to come along with us! I had never been to Vermont until this year, and I’ve been three times now (including this trip). Once in May, once in September, and now in October. It’s such a great state, and I’m so happy we took this long weekend trip!

On the drive… Okay, yes, we definitely could have found a closer destination. Six hours was a lot from New York City. But was it worth it? Judging by our photos, I’d say yes. Yes it was.

On the town… SO cute. Stowe has a super small town that is quintessential Vermont!

On the food… For breakfast, we stopped in town to get sandwiches and coffee. We ate at Depot Street Malt Shop for lunch every day between shooting looks. It was such an adorable throwback diner, and their chocolate chip cookie dough milkshake was UNREAL. We decided to do dinner out one night and wanted somewhere cozy. We picked Whip at Green Mountain Inn, and I’m SO happy we did. I had a delicious Gorgonzola-crusted filet mignon, and the creme brulee was delicious!

On the accommodations… For our first night in Vermont, Allie and I stayed at Field Guide in Stowe, Vermont. We got there pretty late at night, and the hotel graciously accommodated us and gave us directions on how to enter our room when no one was at the front desk. When we walked into our room, we were pretty excited because it was exactly how it was described – mountain chic! In the morning, we checked out the property, perfectly tucked away in the mountain, grabbed some breakfast, and sat by the fireplace for a bit.

After checking out of Field Guide, we headed to our Airbnb where Andrea would meet us for the next two days of our trip. When looking for Airbnbs, I wasn’t sure what I was going to find – most of the places were ski condos since Stowe has a huge ski resort. I stumbled upon a working farm WITH ANIMALS. We knew going into it that it wasn’t going to be the nicest place we’ve ever stayed, but it was definitely a fun place to stay. The family was SUPER adorable, and we had the upper part of the farmhouse to ourselves (which was nice). They let us feed the animals their breakfast, and take photos all over the property! It was a great distance from town and I definitely recommend!

On the foliage… Allie and I tried to be very strategic when planning our trip. We did some research to see when other girls took their trips and decided that the third weekend in October would be perfect. While there was still definitely foliage around, I think we might have missed peak foliage by a week. I guess it’s unpredictable based on the weather, but we still got to see the beauty of the Green Mountain State!

On things to do… If you know Allie and I, you know we base our trips on photo opps. I could imagine there’s A LOT more things going on once there’s snow on the ground since Stowe is such a huge ski town. But for us, it was a great way to just get to the mountains, breathe in the freshest air, and get some great content along the way. One of the things that was DEFINITELY on our list of things to do: Ben & Jerry’s Factory. I never considered myself an ice cream girl..but I’m a sucker for anything chocolate marshmallow or chocolate peanut butter related…oh and I mean add cookie dough? YUP.
