An open letter to the shirtdress:
Thank you for being you. For being the perfect “throw on and go” silhouette.
Thank you for coming in all different lengths that matches who I feel like being that day or season: long, short, casual, button front, popover. For making me feel put together on the days when I don’t feel very pretty. And thanks for not requiring pants. Because most of the time, I don’t want to wear pants.
That’s all. Love, Me.
Okay, that was silly…but I do love shirt dresses so much. One of my first designer pieces was a DVF shirt dress. I don’t know why I didn’t opt for a classic wrap dress. Something about the shirtdress just felt more like me, more wearable for my style. So when Shopstyle invited me to their Social House during NYFW, I was so excited to learn that we were able to borrow some pieces to shoot. I picked up this Yumi Kim shirt dress because of how easy it was. I loved the simple print and the midi length – it was a no brainer! It was also really hard to give it back.
PS: It’s also October. I don’t know how that happened. So there’s that. (It’s my favorite month everrrrrr too.)
