For me, 2020 is all about intentions. And these words are going to help me throughout the year.
Over the last month, I talked about the words that helped me set intentions for 2020. So far, I’ve been really focusing on them, and can’t wait to see where they take me this year! Check out the first two posts here and here.
Power
At the end of the day, you hold the power to create whatever life you want. And that’s what I’m kind of striving for in 2020. I have the power to make sure I’m happy, healthy, and doing what I want to be doing. I think it took me a solid 27 years to realize that no one else could truly do that for me. I choose who I surround myself with to make me happy and to be the best version of myself. I choose what I do for my body and mind to make sure it’s strong and healthy through working out and eating better. I choose what kind of work I get done and where I want to go with my career.
In the end, it’s all up to you.
Space
It’s a big intention of mine to TAKE UP MORE SPACE. Not literally. I’m talking more in the sense of your life and your career. I think I’ve learned over the last 5+ years in the corporate fashion industry that it’s important to make YOUR OWN PATH. Sure, it’s really great to have mentors and peers to lean on and to help you grow, but ultimately, you have to do it on your own. The space you create for yourself only makes sense. If you want to have a bigger presence in your 9-to-5 or in the this digital space, then find a way to do it.
While I can only speak for the fashion industry, I do believe it’s pretty tough to make a name for yourself. Some people are comfortable just going through the motions and getting their work done. To be honest, that was me for a while. But now I’m ready to take up more space and really make a difference for the company I work for.
