I know, this might be a blasphemous statement, BUT I REALLY AM NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO SUMMER. I don’t want to say goodbye to winter fashion.
I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m just not a summer gal. Although I love Summer Fridays and my birthday, there’s just too many things I dislike about summer.
The sweating doesn’t stop
I HATE sweating when I’m not working out. It’s honestly the worst feeling ever. And the subway. UGH. THE NEW YORK CITY SUBWAY. It’s basically hell, but worse. Much worse. The NYC air in summer is stifling, and just so uncomfortable. By the time I walk into my office, I’m dripping (TMI), and flustered…so I end up overheating even more. It also makes shooting in the summer so dreadful, and I definitely don’t look forward to it. So while most people are excited for the beach days, I try to figure out ways to stay in the air conditioning for as long as possible.
It’s so hard to dress
This point goes hand in hand with the above. Why would I dress cute if I’m just going to be sweaty and sticky in it within minutes? I have to purposely think about what I’m going to be doing that day, so that I don’t risk overheating. Oh and silk in the summer? NOPE. Never happening. Fall and winter fashion just make my heart skip a beat. I feel like I look so much cuter and put together in the cooler/colder months! Layered looks are obviously a huge part of my style, so I feel like I’m forever in a rut during the summer. I typically don’t wear sleeves EVER in summer, which doesn’t help
I actually have to shave
I mean. Do I really need to say more? SO MUCH MORE UPKEEP. Pedicures, shaving, waxing, JUST UGH. Forever having to worry about if my legs or underarms are in decent condition. The worst;)
My hair
The Drybar receipts are real. I’m constantly having to do my hair. I know it’s disgusting, but I wash my hair 2-3 times a week, max. I typically get my hair blown out because I am terrible at washing my own hair. But as soon as I step outside of Drybar, POOF. The frizz. Oh the dreaded frizz. I end up looking like a poodle before I get home. And then let’s talk about how the hair by my neck is just soaking wet. So stupid!!!
The message of the story: Summer is stupid;) While this post was more of a light-hearted, fun post, I actually am such a pessimist in Summer. I just can’t do it! But thankfully, my birthday helps with a bit of the negativity. I know I might be one of the FEW people who feel this way, so I want to know why do you people love Summer so much?!

Actually started sweating just thinking about the subway. WOOF
UGH. I knew you would feel me on this post. THE WORST.
This post popped up in my notifications and I was immediately like is she CRAZY ? That being said, dressing in New York in the summer might be the absolute worst (feel ya with the sweating) though I think I’d trade it for this snowstorm coming tomorrow…

Hahah you are DEFINITELY a Spring/Summer gal.
I’m praying for a snow day though 😉
Haha you are cracking me up with this post! I’m definitely with you on the sweating, I hate that. Especially now that I’m using all natural deodorant, I sweat so easily – ewww! BUT I LOVE Spring, Summer, and Fall. I love feeling the sun on my skin and not shivering nonstop from being freezing! Also, spring/summer really work with my aesthetic hahahaha!

Haha true, maybe like low 50s would be our ideal climate.
This post is near and dear to my heart – I suck at summer fashion!! Seriously… layers, please. I have all of the above issues, too! Summer can be fun, but I prefer being cozy and warm in the cooler weather. Love hearing from people who agree!

LITERALLY SUCK AT IT!!! Yes to ALL the layers, ALWAYS 😉 Glad I’m not totally alone on this! xx
Amen to the shaving thing. I also love love love that sweater!

Teach me your ways: I’m SO BAD at dressing for fall and winter, I always have to push myself to layer! I do not miss how sweaty I get in the summer though, and I’m the worst at reminding myself to shave every single day (whoops!)
The title of this post made me giggle – I can totally relate. That is, until I start to look at Spring Fashion, and then I’m REALLY excited to pack away my boots, scarves and coats.
Now I’m thinking about what new shoes I need to buy for Spring 😉

Noooo I love summer! Light, easy dresses all day. Maxi skirts in the early summer/late spring. No need for a thousand layers! Sunshine and happiness!
But I do feel you a thousand percent on the shaving and the frizz. Every time I vacation anywhere in the south, I remember why I could never live there – my hair cannot deal.
Haha I loved this post–I’m totally with you about not liking summer. I’m a fall & winter lover myself 🙂

I never comment on blog posts, but this CRACKED me up and I am with you 100%! I live in Chicago and take the L into work every day. A little trick I use in the summer is that I wear shorts and a tank into the office and change into my work attire when I arrive. I change back into my casual clothes for the ride home too (unless I’m going to happy hour). I basically turn into Mr. Rogers (you probably aren’t old enough to know who that is, but I digress). Hope this helps!
haha dana! This post cracked.me.UP. I hate summer, too! Summers in Charlotte are SO hot & humid and yes, the sweating is real! I can relate to every single point you’ve made here. There’s literally no point in dressing cute in the summer bc I just sweat right thru it. Silk and grey are a big NO! haha
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this sweaty season! xx
