What I Wear On A Flight

I’m going to start this post by telling you I’m not a seasoned traveler by any means. BUT on the flip side, I do enjoy the actual aspect of traveling. I love that one minute you’re in one place and a couple of hours later you’re in a completely new place! I’ve loved flying for as long as I could remember – and now that I’m older, I also enjoy getting dressed to travel. Let’s talk about what to wear on a plane.

What To Wear On A Plane

What To Wear On A Plane

Comfort over everything

This is a no brainer, right? But then again, thanks to social media I feel like I’ve seen it all. When it comes to traveling, comfort is key. That’s pretty much my motto when I’m getting dressed 95% of the time anyway. When I’m getting on a plane, I still want to look put together. But there is nothing worse than feeling uncomfortable when you know you’re going to be sitting for hours. When I took a quick flight to Detroit (FOR THE ERAS TOUR), I actually decided on some jeans – surprisingly, I’m usually very comfortable in jeans. On longer haul flights, like our flight to London, I definitely opted for extreme comfort since I needed to sleep on the flight.

Think about your destination

Are you going to a warm weather destination when your city is 20 degrees? Is is raining where you’re going the morning of your scheduled flight? The last two trips I went on, it was very warm when I was arriving. London (and Europe in general) is known for no air conditioning, so I knew I needed to dress appropriately. I always layer. I ALWAYS wear a tank underneath everything I wear and either stuff my layers into my tote or drape over my shoulders because #fashun.

…but also think about the plane

You really NEVER know what kind of flight you’re about to get on until you’re in the air. I ALWAYS bank on the fact that I’ll probably be freezing. So that’s where all the layers come in. When I went to London, I wore a tank, t-shirt, denim jacket, and cashmere sweater over my shoulders. This ensured that I would be prepared for any kind of temperature on the flight. I knew I needed to sleep, so I wanted to be extra comfortable – I wore the best leggings ever and put on some cashmere socks.

And there you have it – my fool proof system for what to wear on a plane! What is your go-to outfit when you’re traveling?
