Trends are a funny (and sometimes weird) thing.
I think it’s so easy for me to incorporate trends into my normal looks because my style is all about comfort and convenience.
I’m a big cashmere girl…and I have my dad to thank for passing his love for luxe sweaters down to me. When I stepped into Club Monaco, I knew I was going to walk out with this sweater (I got it for 30% off). I paired it with the pants I’ve been wearing since my junior year of college – no, seriously, they’re the most amazing pants I own (I gone through 4-5 pairs) and my newest obsession: the printed floral bomber. I love the effortless feel it adds to the look and how it pairs with my cozy cashmere. I tucked my hair into my sweater to also go along with that effortless vibe.
And now onto this backpack.
You all know I’m not a huge accessories girl. I’d much prefer to add layers and just re-wear the same bag over and over. But that doesn’t really help when it comes to having a fashion blog, does it? Luckily, Henri Bendel came to the rescue during our girls’ trip to the Hamptons. The team provided us with their newest convertible backpack, and it’s safe to say that I’m obsessed. Seriously. OBSESSED.
I never thought I’d be into a backpack, but I am! And the fact that it converts into a shoulder bag/crossbody and a top handle bag makes me love it even more. I know a backpack can come off nerdy, but come on, this on it pretty chic if you ask me (it even comes in a cute floral pattern).
When it comes to styling a backpack, there are a few things I like to keep in mind.
Keep it small
If your backpack is too big, it may look like you’re heading back to school. And to be honest, at first I thought my Henri Bendel one was too big, but it actually ended up really fitting into my lifestyle – I use it for everything: from work to the weekend! But it’s definitely not too big, that would be overwhelming!
Keep it neutral
Since a backpack is a pretty decent statement piece all in its own, I think keeping a neutral palette in mind while shopping is always a safe bet. And while adding a subtle pattern or texture may be cool, I would definitely
A backpack shouldn’t mean fully-packed
Just because your backpack is spacious AF, doesn’t mean you should pack it as if you’re going on a trip (or coming home with a ton of books for homework like I used to do). Keep it to your essentials. Don’t fill it up just for the sake of filling it up.
Check out my picks below and let me know what you think! Are you on board with the backpack trend?

I haven’t tried out the backpack trend yet. I even went to totes when I was in school so it’s been a while, but I love how you styled it! So cute! xo Bryn http://www.waketonroad.com
