When Spring rolls around, I like to give myself the opportunity to hit the refresh button get back end things done for my blog. I touched upon this briefly in a recent Instagram post, but I’ve been feeling like I’m in a bit of a rut lately. While I believe that has to do with the time I have in a day, I also want to see the silver lining. For me, that silver lining is this: Focusing “less” on my content for a minute, and looking at what housekeeping tasks need to be done for The Champagne Edit.


Plan, Plan, Plan

Since I’m in such a rut — I feel like I’ve been having writer’s block — this is a great opportunity to really dive deep into my editorial calendar. My blog organization skills have come a long way, and I’m really proud of the calendar I’ve put together in 2018. Sometimes I get so caught up in actually writing content, that I forget that I actually need to plan ahead. If I plan ahead, I’ll give myself enough time to think about the content, and ultimately be less stressed at the end of the day.

I got a ton of work done on my flights on Thursday and yesterday, so I’m already feeling SO much better!

Brush up on the basics

As a blogger, there are A LOT of things I need to worry about. Oh and every day it seems like there’s something new we need to learn. Although it’s stressful at times, there’s nothing better than sitting down and just brush up on the basics. Not really sure why you’re not getting tons of traffic from Pinterest? Take a Pinterest course. Watch YouTube videos. Join a Tailwind Tribe. What about your ABOUT page? Are the statements in your ABOUT page accurate? Or do they reflect what was happening in your life a few years ago? And your SHOP page? I mean, I’ll be the first to admit that I’ve 100% neglected my SHOP page (so I disabled it for now). Instead, I have my Instagram page where you can shop all of the looks I add to Instagram.

The idea of giving my website a little refresh has crossed my mind, but I honestly just don’t have time at the moment. I do think it’s a great idea though!


If you’re on WordPress, then you’re probably familiar with plugins (literally the greatest gift for bloggers). If we’re being honest, I haven’t taken a look at what plugins are installed on my site in MONTHS. Now that it’s Spring, I think it’s a good idea to go down the list and deactivate…actually, delete…plugins that are no longer useful to you.

Update everything

Take a look at your top posts. Now go back and update them. If it’s an outfit, make sure you have new, updated links. Actually, just make sure you’re links in general are all still working and relevant. Although I have outsourced SEO completely, I still like to keep this in mind. Will a link be relevant in a few months, years, etc? I know people who get insane traffic from posts from years ago (I’m pretty sure Katie gets tons of traffic from this One Tree Hill post). So just make sure they’re still pretty, up to date, and in line with the format of the posts you’re putting out there now!
