I think this is the first time I’ve EVER written about beauty/skincare products on my actual blog. GROUNDBREAKING MOMENT, PEOPLE!
I’ve never written about this topic because I never considered myself an expert in this field. And I still don’t. Which is why I decided to write about it now. I’m legitimately clueless about beauty and skincare products. CLUELESS. Thankfully, I’ve had some amazing brands reach out to me and send me products to try.
As I get older, I’m trying to take my skin into consideration more often than not. Especially during the winter. Extreme temps (cold and hot) are dangerous for my skin, and I’ve finally found some products that I really enjoy using — so I wanted to share some of these skincare and beauty essentials with you today!
MY 7 BEAUTY ESSENTIALS
Drybar Dry Shampoo
I’ve sworn by Drybar Dry Shampoo for about 5 years. I’ve tried plenty of others because of the $24 price tag, but nothing comes close to this dry shampoo for me. To give a little background, I barely wash my hair. There’s nothing I loathe more than washing my own hair. That’s why I’m frequently at Drybar to get blowouts, and then I don’t wash my hair for at least 4-5 days. Some say it’s disgusting (like my friend, Erica), but I swear by it. My hair has never been healthier because of the limit of heat, and it’s SO much less oily. When I would wash my hair every night after track practice, my hair would dry oily. It was the strangest thing. So I went a few days without washing it, and my life has changed. This is why I swear by my Drybar Dry Shampoo!
Patchology
Okay this is one of those brands that I’ve never heard of, but after a collaboration, fell in love with them: Patchology! If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen me talk about them on my Instagram Stories. They have some of my favorite products EVER. And you want to know why? They’re so easy to use and don’t take too much time to do. I’ve tried almost every single one of their products, and haven’t had any complaints about them all. I definitely use two more often than not: The 5 minute lip patch and eye gels. They are such a quick fix. I’m actually wearing my eye gels now!
Wet Skin Moisturizer
THIS WAS A LIFE CHANGER. I’ve tried two wet skin moisturizers, Curel and Jergens, and I’m IN LOVE. I used to never moisturize because I was just too lazy to do it after my shower and I also hated how it made my skin feel once I put fresh clothes on. Both of the ones I’ve tried have been amazing. I recently just ran out of my Jergens, so I was happy to start using the Curel one. All you do is take a shower, and before you towel off, just put moisturizer on as normal (except you’re still wet). Pat to dry and your skin instantly feels smoother/more hydrated!
First Aid Beauty
Thanks to my BFF ELLE, I was introduced to this moisturizer. Let me tell you, some of the best money I’ve ever spent! I LOVE feeling moisturized, especially on my face, so I keep this with me in my back at all times. I also got the lip balm and keep it with me too. These New York City winters will get ya!
Invisibobble Hair Ties
These are seriously life changing. I don’t have super thick hair, but I have a lot of fine hair, so my hair still hurts when I have it up all day. These hair ties help with that immensely. A major plus is that my hair doesn’t get dented — aka my blowout lasts another day or two;)
Sugar Lip Polish
My lips are horrible in the winter. They’re almost never soft. So I picked up this lip scrub and have been exfoliating twice a week, sometimes three times (if I’m wearing lipstick). It works really well, so I’m really happy I got it! Bonus: It tastes good too;)
Josie Maran Pure Argan Milk
I recently received this from a PR agency and knew I would love it. It’s 100% natural, which is a great feature, and it’s very lightweight. My skin instantly felt better and EVEN better after 24 hours! It also has a hint of argan oil, so your skin gets some extra nourishing!
As you can see, I’m V. INTERESTED in products that keep my skin hydrated. To me, that’s what’s most important right now for my skin. And to me, there’s nothing that feels better than smooth, hydrated skin. If you have any of your own skincare or beauty essentials, pleeeease send them my way – I’d love to hear more!
SHOP THE BEAUTY ESSENTIALS PRODUCTS
I have to try that wet skin moisturizer you keep telling me about! Looking forward to reading the comments later to see if there are any other good products we are missing. xo your BFF Elle (it made me laugh above)
YOU NEED TO. I’m just going to buy for you, lol.
IDK MY BFF ELLE? 😀
Is it crazy for me to say that I have never been to DryBar? There is one right by my apartment but I’ve never gone in! I have heard so many things about the store but also their products, so I may have to pop in for some of their dry shampoo 🙂 I love the First Aid Beauty moisturizer, too! Sometimes I can find it to be a little to hardcore for my skin, especially in the winter, but it’s the best!
Kendal // Life With Kendal
YES! SO CRAZY! 😉
You need to get your butt there. It’s so relaxing, they play chick flicks and you get a glass of champs! What’s better than that? I highly recommend the dry shampoo!
Okay, I need that sugar lip polish in my life stat! I too love patchology and have been using their moisturizer mask at night, a couple nights of week and my skin is glowing. My dad even made a comment about how amazing my skin looks. I will forever be a fan of theirs!

YES! It’s SO good. And Patchology is just the best. I use their eye patches every night. Also, your dad? THAT’S AMAZING — you know it’s good when you’re dad notices 😉
I use that Sugar Lip Polish too, and it works miracles! I’m applying chapstick way less! I really need to scoop up the First Aid Moisturizer, I’m in need of a better moisturizer for body!
ME TOO! I love that you have a similar experience — I rarely apply chapstick!
Also, highly recommend First Aid Beauty and the wet skin moisturizer! xx
I love the Drybar dry shampoo – I agree it’s the best of all the ones I’ve tried! I’m such a skincare addict. Even though my issue is oily skin, and I don’t really need any extra moisture, I do know that one of the best ways to add moisture to your skin is through hylauronic acid – it helps your skin retain the moisture. I love Paula’s Choice products because I think they’re effective rather than just gimmicky (and I have an engineering background so I like knowing it’s backed by science!) and they have a great hylauronic acid serum here: http://www.paulaschoice.com/resist-hyaluronic-acid-booster/786.html. Drunk Elephant also makes great products (but more expensive).
Didn’t realize I had so much to say, haha!
Omg, I need to look into these products. Thanks so much for the rec, Heather! xx
I loveeee the Drybar dry shampoo!! One of the best I’ve ever tried. Great post girl!

RIGHT? I don’t get it when people say they don’t like it – it works SO well for me! xx
I’ve found that using an essential oil based scrub, like the lavender one at Whole Foods, makes a huge difference in keeping my legs moisturized. xAllie http://www.theallthatglittersblog.com
Oh that’s a great idea! There’s a Whole Foods right by my office, so I’ll have to pop in!
These products sound really good!!! I love your picks.

Skincare has been one of my favorite things lately! I have those biore strips too, and think they’re super awesome – but have been wanting to try First Aid Beauty & Fresh products for the longest!
