2016 was definitely the year of Instagram. As much as I grew my blog, I also hit some pretty big milestones on the craziest platform, INSTAGRAM!
When I saw Brandi posted her InstaFaves of 2016 and include little blurbs about the photo, I immediately looked at that website that generates you most popular photos on Instagram and took a look through them. It’s fun seeing what my followers respond best to from 2016.
So here’s a little bit on my most popular photos on Instagram!
WEST VILLAGE EXPLORING
One of my favorite places to wander around is the West Village. Every corner has so much character and it’s so easy to just get lost in thoughts about what it would be like to own a town home next to Carrie Bradshaw’s apartment. This part of New York City definitely makes me love it even more.
THROWIN’ IT BACK
This vest played a role in why this post was really popular on the blog last year. It was also one of my favorite posts I’ve ever written! When I reposted a photo from the post to Instagram, it seemed like some of you remembered the vest! If I’m going to be honest (and you probably have heard me complain about it already), I get hot VERY easily. I also really love to layer. Do you see my issue here? So when I find things that are adorable and ALSO sleeveless (yet seasonally appropriate), 9 times out of 10, I buy it. PS: I also am still obsessed with the vest from this post too.
THE SEASON OF PONCHOS
Once I find something I like, I usually buy many of them. When I ordered this buffalo plaid poncho from J.Crew, I already had purchased like 3 other ponchos. The one I’m wearing from the Instagram post has been very popular – it sells out right away when it comes back in stock even for a second:(
I wore this look to a press preview of Celebrity Cruises Summit’s Unexpected Summer series and it turns out my look was a huge hit! I’m obsessed with this bag – it’s perfect for work and for play. Right now, both the small and large sizes are on MAJOR sale!
RETURN OF THE BLANKET SCARVES
I purchased my first blanket scarf in 2013 and basically never looked back. I own about 10 of them (completely unnecessary, I know). It really doesn’t come as a surprise that this Instagram post was one of my top 9 – funny part is that I posted it when it was still 90 degrees in NYC! I just knew I needed to make sure everyone stocked up before they sold out;) Original blog post from the IG photo here.
THE NEW YORK UNIFORM
Whenever I get lazy, which is a lot, I throw together an all-black look. Classic New Yorker right here. PS: My faux leather jacket is under $60…which is such a steal. I bought mine last year and still keep it in rotation!
ORANGE YA GLAD?
As you can see, the fall foliage just always wins. Am I right?! I wore this look in the Hamptons and while Allie and I were driving, we passed THE MOST PERFECT STREET EVER. So what did we do? We stopped and took outfit photos. I don’t think I could have picked a more perfect location to shoot this dress…or play in the leaves. By the way, it took us entirely too long to get the “perfect leaf throwing shot”.
STRIPIN’ THE TOWN
I’m glad this was one of my most popular Instagram photos because it’s one of mine – even though it was from a long time ago. I love that it’s not taken with a professional camera, it was in front of my parent’s old house, and I was literally about to leave to go to the mall with my dad and sister that day (no idea why I remember that). I also created one of the best top knots OF ALL TIME. Seriously, I don’t think I’ve had one as good as this (and this photo was taken almost two years ago)!
