A little travel, life and fashion Q&A. I want to answer them ALL.
How do you increase traffic to your blog?
My number one recommendation is to get familiar with SEO. Personally, I’ve hired someone to help manage my SEO to ensure that I’m getting the traffic I need by using keywords. If you’re on WordPress (which I highly recommend), you can get the Yoast SEO plugin. That will be your basic guideline for good SEO, which will lead to more traffic to your site. Another way I get traffic to my website is through social media promotion. I’m constantly scheduling tweets for blog posts, and links on Instagram and Facebook. Pinterest is something I’ve yet to master, but it’s apparently an INSANE way to get traffic to your site – some people compare it to a search engine!
I’m in college and I don’t know what I want to do after school but think I want to go into fashion. What are your tips?
I think that’s TOTALLY okay that you’re not sure what you want to do. I didn’t know what I wanted to do either. I originally thought I wanted to go into Sales, but after my internship, I knew that route wasn’t for me. Through questions and research, I figured out merchandising was the path I wanted to go down. And I’m so happy I did. My biggest tip is to just gain knowledge of the fashion industry. Even though I’m a merchandiser, I need to be very on top of what’s going on in the market and with competitors. My bible is Women’s Wear Daily. I highly recommend subscribing – they have student discounts too! I read everything from fashion to retail to market articles and everything in between.
Here’s what I’m loving, buying and eyeing!
I have a fun event coming up in October that I need an awesome outfit for. So I’ve been shopping for that. Other than that, I’m just shopping for new fall pieces. Which leads me to my next point – let’s talk about what I’m obsessed with at the moment: BLAZERS. Specifically oversized blazers. I just purchased two in two days after finding this gem. The funny part about this blazer is that it’s definitely not supposed to be oversized (at least I don’t think it is). I picked up a size 12 and love how big it is — without being sloppy, I swear. This is the other blazer I got and I’m SO excited to style it. I used to swear by this one, but now I’m all about the oversized, slouchy blazer.
FYI, some great sales happening this weekend:
Next up, I decided I’m going to save up and splurge on these boots. After trial and error with so many boots, I think it’s time to bite the bullet and just invest in these. I honestly have heard nothing but good things, so I’m gonna go for it! If you have them, please let me know your thoughts – it’s a pretty big purchase for me, so I need honest opinions!
A little recap on readers’ favorite posts from the past few days and weeks.
PS: Did you notice I updated my website?! What are your thoughts on the new layout?
Weekend plans, anyone?
This weekend is going to be low key and I’m so excited for it. Well, I shouldn’t say that, I do have plans Sunday. But we’ll get to that. Today I plan on getting some blog posts done (hoping to get next week’s content 100% complete by tonight). It’s also the first Friday I’m NOT getting my hair blown out – SAY WUUUUUT?! It must be a chill weekend;)
Tomorrow, I’m spending the entire day with my mom – she’s the coolest and I love her (obv). We’re going to do a little shopping, get lunch at Chipotle, and then she’s going to help me return some things at the mall(#bloggerproblems).
And then on Sunday, I’m going to a taco festival in Brooklyn. Yes. You read that right. UNLIMITED TACOS, MARGARITAS, AND CHURROS. Done. I’m there.
What are you up to this weekend?! Let me know!
