CHAMPAGNE TASTE
A little travel, life and fashion Q&A. I want to answer them ALL.
What’s your biggest advice for someone attending NYFW?
Ooooh, such a dreaded question for me. I wrote a post about this in February, and I actually can’t believe another fashion week is already here again. I chose to skip NYFW last season because I was so turned off by the way influencers treat it. As a whole, the fashion industry is changing (as it should), so I’m interested to see what brands are doing with it. Perry Ellis, for example, did a presentation at our offices (for editors only) during NYFWM. Immediately after, Creative/Marketing teams went to the roof of our building and shot a look book of the collection. If that’s not efficiency, I don’t know what is. We haven’t done too much with influencers surrounding the collection (yet).
I’m all for influencers attending New York Fashion Week. I think we NEED to be there with the way the industry is trending. I do, however, feel that we need to know our place. My biggest advice to a NYFW-newbie is to simply pay attention. Take in your surroundings. Be aware of the collection: the fabrics, trends, silhouettes. How will you be able to incorporate these elements into your blog posts? Since I’m on both sides of the spectrum, I understand where influencers are coming from when they want to go to the best shows and parties. And then from the fashion industry side, I know how important these collections are to buyers, designers, and marketers…among countless others.
CHAMPAGNE FINDS
Here’s what I’m loving, buying and eyeing!
I haven’t been doing much shopping lately (yet I still have no idea where my money goes). I actually haven’t even been browsing too much either. WHO AM I? One thing I’ve definitely been into though is neck scarves. I did just buy two from J.Crew and I’m obsessed. Gimme any size, shape, color, I want ALL of the neck scarves. And hats. Can’t forget about the hats. Actually, the more I think about it, the more I realize that I’m all about the accessories. And I don’t mean jewelry (okay, with some exceptions). I mean, when was the last time you’ve seen me with a bracelet or ring on in posts? Scroll though below to see what I’m loving!

CHAMPAGNE DAILY
Weekend plans, anyone?
Did the title of today’s Pop Fizz Chat freak you out? I had to add the JK because I freaked myself out. LOL. After telling my friend, Elle, what my weekend plans were, she noticed the common theme: BABIES! Yes, it’s true. There are a lot of baby-related things happening this weekend.
- Showering one of my co-workers and her bun in the oven on Saturday
- Matt’s baby cousins’ Christening on Sunday
- My cousins, Kate & Alex, welcomed a beeeeeautiful baby girl into the world. Her name is Maeve and I’m so excited to meet her. We finally have another baby girl in our family — Maddie is the oldest of the little ones, and she’s had to deal with FOUR annoying (but adorable) boys – Charlie (cousin), John (cousin), Aiden (brother), and Alex (cousin) – for a long time. I’m so excited to watch her be a big sister to another baby…this time a girl!
Luckily, all of these events are happening in Westchester area. Yes, even my coworker lives up there (actually around the corner from my cousins). I love that both my family and Matt’s family live so close to each other. It’s always nice that we can see both of our families when we go to Westchester for a weekend. It’s also SO pretty up there, so I love hanging out!
CHAMPAGNE TO GO
Ah, the jet set life…where to next?
I’m seriously COUNTING down the days until Thursday because my favorite DC girls (actually, my favorite girls in general) are coming to NYC. Jenn and Kristyn are heading up on Thursday and then we’re immediately heading out to the Hamptons for a long girls’ weekend with Allie! I’m so excited to hang with them and catch up. This is less of a “work” trip and more of a “OMG, can’t wait to have fun” trip.
I’m also realizing summer is dwindling down very rapidly, and I’m not sure how I feel about it. I think I’m just going to miss Summer Fridays, to be honest. I’m definitely ready for cooler weather, but not ready to let go of those 2PM dismissals. UGH, internally crying over this. If anything, it’ll just help me get my life together when it comes to travel. I think Allie and I have a trip planned for October (in the very early stages), and that’s all I got for now.
Are you guys liking the travel content? Is there anything I’m missing/doing wrong? I’d love to know your thoughts!
