On “Doing Nothing”…

Anyone else have a problem when it comes to doing nothing?

Sometimes I do, and sometimes I don’t. I would definitely consider myself an extroverted introvert. So yes, I do love being social, but I also value my alone time. There’s also the whole “always being connected” component when you’re in this type of industry.

I think I have a pretty good grasp on what it means to do nothing.

When it comes to the blog…

I’m always going to advocate for taking breaks when necessary. While I agree, I’m definitely on my phone more than the average human, I know there’s a time and place for staying connected. I don’t necessarily love being on my phone when I’m out with my friends or family. I value the time I have with my loved ones more than anything, so I know when it’s time to put the phone down.

Since this isn’t my full time job, the time I have to work on my website and social media is very limited. But honestly, there are some days when I just want to do nothing. I never want anything I do on my platforms to be forced. I’ve been doing this for 7 years, so I’ve learned that your platforms are YOUR platforms. They’ll be there tomorrow, and honestly, no one really cares if you don’t post for a day or even a week. If I need a few days to regroup and re-spark some creativity…I’m OK with that. If I’ve had a long day at work, and just don’t have it in me to schedule a post, I don’t get down on myself. I PROMISE it’ll be OK!

When it comes to being social…

I’m THE girl that forever has FOMO. I truly love being around my friends. There are just some days when I really don’t feel like going out though. Instead, I like to stay home (either by myself or with Matt), and just chill. I typically love going out and doing things, but when I’m not in the mood…I AM NOT IN THE MOOD. Ya know? Or if my SoulCycle friends are doing something after class, I typically just say no and go home since I have a long commute. At the end of the day, it’s better to put yourself first. Do your mind or body just need a break? Then give it what it needs.

So if you’re having trouble just doing nothing, I highly recommend it! Me time is NEVER a bad thing!
