When I visited the Nora Gardner pop up shop a few weekends ago, I didn’t just leave with a new dress (and scarf).
After listening to Nora tell Allie and me the story behind the brand (she worked on Wall Street and basically noticed how unattractive women’s work wear was), I couldn’t help but feel a sense of empowerment while wearing one of her dresses. Nora kept reiterating how she just wanted to help women feel confident and professional in her designs – it was something that also came across so strongly in her brand.
Let’s face it, I’m a 23-year old assistant merchandisers in one of the most cutthroat industries in the world. With that being said, I’m extremely fortunate that the people I work with are one of the main reasons why I’ve become so confidant in my position – and also are helping me work my way up the ladder.
….but dressing properly doesn’t hurt in the confidence arena either.
By now, you should know that I work in a super laid back environment. (Currently wearing jeans and a sweater in the office right now.) But on days where my team has to show lines to Sales, or days where I simply want to put on a pretty dress, I’m going to reach for my Fiona dress.
This Nora Gardner dress is the definition of a desk-to-drinks dress: fitted in the right place, cool cap sleeves (I usually opt for sleeveless), and a flared skirt. It’s completely office appropriate, but still has a great “let’s go for drinks” or “date night” feel to it!
For me, adding a bold red lip, a leopard belt, a flirty messy bun and a leather jacket is the way to take my Nora Gardner dress from my office to the bar.
