Honestly, my favorite day of the year is only days away, and I just needed to tell you that.
When it comes to the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic, fashion is taken VERY seriously. As soon as you get on line for the ferry to Liberty State Park, the fashion watching begins. This day is not only about the polo match, but also about the #FASHUN. Today, I wanted to take a deep dive into what I’ve worn over the years…and some tips for dressing for this Saturday!
2015 This was our first EVER Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic. I remember thinking this adorable Kate Spade floral dress was PERFECT for the occasion. Allie brought her camera and we snapped some outfit photos. In reality, this outfit isn’t one that I’d ever wear again. Personally, I get WAY too hot WAY too easily. Since we were in General Admission that year, we planned VERY poorly. It was 310381230982 million degrees, and we had to sit on the ground with no towel/blanket because we didn’t know what to expect. Totally not an ideal situation for this dress.
2016 I learned my lesson in 2015, and 2016 was spent in the beautiful Rose Garden. And I wore a midi dress. It was honestly a win-win situation. Instead of flats, I opted for a block heel. I’ve seen many people stumbling around in their stilettos – and honestly, it’s just not the event for pumps. Since the ground is all grass, and you have to walk about 20 minutes to and from the ferry, a simple shoe is the way to go. I know…it’s not what many people want to hear.
2017 (NY) In 2017, I opted for a two piece set to make things a little different from previous years. I loved this little Rebecca Taylor set SO much. Again, I paired them with a pair of fun, blocked heels. And as always, A HAT. This was probably one of my favorite looks to date!
2017 (LA) Allie and I decided that we wanted to check out how LA does the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic. Since we were in LA, I wanted to switch things up completely, and go total boho. Still…the florals made an appearance.
2018 Florals always seem to be a theme for me, so when my outfit didn’t quite pan out the way I wanted it to, I needed to do some damage control. I picked up my entire outfit at Zara the evening before the event, and kind of loved how it turned out. While it wasn’t fancy AT ALL, it was ME. I loved pairing florals and stripes together. I LOVED wearing a blazer (although it was definitely toasty). And I loved pulling the look together with my favorite Chanel earrings.
And there you have it! All of my looks from 2015-2018 Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic. Clearly I’m VERY into florals…BUT WHO KNOWS WHAT I’M WEARING THIS YEAR. Any bets? Take a guess below.
Tips For Dressing For The Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic
- Always add a fun accessory – For me, it’s typically a hat and earrings. A hat not only adds a fun element to your look, but also protects you from the sun! Trust me, it gets HOT.
- Wear flats or blocked heels – This is 100000% a must do. If you take ANYTHING away from this post, it’s that you MUST wear the appropriate shoes.
- SUNSCREEN – Ok this is also something you need to take away. Make sure you have sunscreen on you…don’t just apply it before you get to the ferry.
- The flowier the better – Since it gets so hot, I try to stay away from anything that’s super tight, stiff, or clingy. Nothing is worse than being a sweaty mess who is uncomfortable in the heat.
