Little Ways To Express Gratitude To Others

Why is something as easy as showing gratitude so hard to do sometimes?

Although I firmly believe that you should express gratitude every day, with Thanksgiving coming up this week (YAY) I wanted to really dive into gratitude and thanks.

Sometimes it seems tough to express gratitude for whatever reason – maybe we’re having a bad day, maybe we’re going through a rough time in our life. I’m the first person to admit that I get a little stuck in my ways, and that usually means I’m being selfish. I’ve learned a lot more over the last few months, and the first thing I want to do more of is express gratitude to others.

to my family

Family is #1. Always. End of story. Without my family, there’s no way I would be where I am today. My mom, dad, and sister have supported me SINCE DAY ONE…even when I’m not making the best decisions. Now that my brother in law has been in my life for eight (I think) years, we’ve also created an insane bond. It’s nice to know I have another guy in my life to have my back no matter what. Then there’s my aunt, uncle, grandma, and cousins. They honestly all bring me an absurd amount of joy. I used to get upset that I didn’t have a big family, but knowing I have lots of amazing angels in heaven makes it better. Also, there’s something about a small family that makes us SO close. And I’ve learned to really love that as I got older.

to those you care about

It’s truly the little things. I love sending little texts or reminders to those I genuinely care about. I love letting people know how much they mean to me. So this year, I want to say something to every person I love – whether it’s thanking them for always being there, making me a better person, or something I love about them. It’s a quick and simple way to show just how happy you are to have them in your life. I want to plan more “dates” with those I care about – Elle and I are really good about planning bestie days and simply DO things together.

to influencers

I follow A LOT of influencers. And that’s not necessarily because I’m one too (ew, cringe). I follow a lot of influencers because I GENUINELY enjoy their content. I get a lot of styling tips and ideas from influencers, so I want to spend this season showing my favorite influencers that I appreciate them and their content! I know I share content through The Friday Edit, but I feel like I need to be doing MORE to support the content I really love.

to my readers/followers

It goes without saying that without readers and followers, this whole influencing thing wouldn’t exist. I want to do more for my readers and followers who I’ve seriously connected with because of this space. Whether it’s through a giveaway or even a coffee date to get to know someone in real life, I want to be able to give back to those who have really given me a lot.

to strangers

Too often I find myself getting annoyed with strangers. It’s almost too easy to get annoyed with people you don’t even know in New York City. I need to start being nicer: holding doors open for EVERYONE, swiping someone struggling into the subway, paying for someone’s coffee behind me. Although I should always be doing these things, I’d love to emphasize it during the holiday season.

What’s your favorite way to show gratitude?
