Linen is one of my favorite fabrics for summer. Not only do they give off the casual vibes that I’m ALWAYS striving for, but they also allow me to stay cool and comfortable during the summer heat in New York. Linen clothing for summer should be at the top of your shopping list. I love that linen clothing is appropriate for every occasion and there are so many different pieces that can help round out your summer wardrobe.
Linen Clothing For Summer
Linen Shirt
If there is anything you take from this post, it’s that a linen shirt is a MUST have in your closet. I recently picked up this linen shirt, and it’s definitely a staple. I love how I can wear it super casually on the weekends or over a bathing suit, but then I can also wear it with pants to work. I mean come on, what’s better than a versatile piece in your closet?! You know that’s our goal around these parts.
Linen Skirt
Another fantastic option for linen clothing is a skirt. I love the ease of skirts in general, but when they’re linen, they’re even better. I love this gingham linen skirt because it hides the inevitable wrinkles that come with linen. There’s something about a linen skirt that is so casual, but because it’s a skirt, you feel put together and elevated. I love wearing this skirt with an easy tank too!
Linen Shorts
Another perfect option for sweltering days where you don’t even want to think about clothes being on your body. I LOVE these tailored linen shorts. I even went a little crazy and got the matching blazer. AND THEN I got a 2nd pair in white. And now I’m even considering the black pair. I just love how they add a sleek element to super casual styles during the summer! They’re a super appropriate length for a gal in her 30s;)
Linen Dress
Of course linen dresses are at the top of the list when it comes to linen clothing you need for summer. Easy, breezy dresses where you TRULY don’t need to think about getting dressed are THE BEST. And this specific dress? It’s truly the definition of *chef’s kiss*. I’m serious, just look at the reviews! I love that it’s lined, has pockets, and also offered in petite (which is what I’m wearing) and tall. I think it’s such a flattering shape too – and it can even be belted! At J.Crew there are a TON of great linen dresses, I honestly can’t just pick one. BUT if you’re making me, then I definitely love the Maxine (also love this high neck silo).
Linen Pants
And finally, linen pants. When I ordered these pants, I honestly didn’t have high hopes. I feel like I haven’t purchased a pair of pull on pants since my Lou & Grey days, but I really just wanted some easy pant options for summer that weren’t trousers. I needed something a bit more casual. And it turns out, I LOVE THEM. I immediately wore them to Central Park the day after they arrived. They’re so comfortable, so easy, and I just love black linen. But, if you’re looking for something a bit more tailored, I highly recommend these Madewell pants.
