It’s “Vuv” Like “Love”: The 2019 Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic

Like every good thing, it must come to an end. But if I could relive this day every day…I would.

Another year has gone by. This means another Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic (GUYS, I PROMISE YOU THAT YOU PRONOUNCE IT “VUV CLEEEEKO” …JUST SAY VUV LIKE LOVE) is in the books. *insert crying emoji*

The 2019 Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic did NOT disappoint. But honestly, when does it ever? (The answer is never.) You guys know just how much I live for Veuve Clicquot – the best champagne, IMO. When you combine champagne, good company, unreal fashion, and an all day event…I’m the happiest gal in the world.

In comparison to the previous years I’ve attended, this one had to be the best. So let’s just recap the day, shall we?

6:30AM My day began so early because I honestly felt like a kid on Christmas

7:30AM Arrive at Elle’s apartment and jump in the shower quick so I can have wet hair for when our GlamSquad arrives.

8AM GlamSquad arrives!! The convenience of having hair and make up come to the apartment is just too amazing. We all LOVED our hair and make up artists so much. They were SO efficient and listened to our wants perfectly. Since I don’t wear a ton of make up to begin with, all I asked for was annoying eyebrows (aka filled in to perfection LOL), and a dewy glow.

9:30AM OFF TO THE FERRY! Elle’s apartment is about a 10 minute walk to the ferry, but we decided to treat ourselves and Uber over because…yeah. We were already so excited because the weather was just PERFECTION. We’ve gotten lucky every year in terms of no rain, but it’s always been PRETTY hot. This year? NOPE. JUST BEAUTIFUL.

10:45AM After a bit of a debacle with Allie’s camera, we were finally on the ferry and heading over to Liberty State Park. It’s always a beautiful ferry ride, one that you just want to soak up every second of the gorgeous views of Lady Liberty and the Manhattan skyline.

11:15AM When you get to Liberty State Park, there’s about a 20 minute walk (which is why I DEFINITELY recommend wearing a low block heel or flats). Luckily, about 2 years ago, they  started hiring pedicabs. Honestly, super worth the $10/pp charge!

11:30AM Allie and I immediately started snapping our photos while Elle was a team player and held down the fort for us. She got us THE best seats in the Rosé Garden – under a tent, with a large couch, table, and chairs for everyone! Honestly, if you’re coming to the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic to take pictures…definitely recommend getting them out of the way early.

1PM Lunch time! When you purchase a Rosé Garden ticket, you not only receive access to the best part of the venue, but you also get 1 bottle of champagne, a gourmet lunch box, and two additional drink tickets (for purchase). That’s why I always recommend the Rosé Garden tickets! It seems like a lot of money, but you end up spending about the same amount when you do General Admission.

2PM The polo match begins! I always love when the players come around on their horses at the beginning of the match. It gets the crowd pumped up and ready to go – especially when the legendary Nacho Figueras comes around!

3PM DIVOT STOMPING!!! This is one of the coolest traditions during polo matches. The crowds get to go on the field and stomp out the divots! It’s fun to get some shots during this time…they’re always the most fun since we’re about 1-2 bottles of champagne deep;)

4-5:30PM The match ends around this time, but that doesn’t stop the crowd from going! Usually a dance party begins around this time. And ya know, more champagne. Because DUH.

5:30PM We made our way back to the ferry, and took in more of the Manhattan skyline.

7-11:30PM Since we didn’t get to see Jenn and Bob at the match, we decided to grab dinner downtown at Seamore’s. Honestly, this might have been my favorite part of the day. There were an insane amount of belly laughs, new memories, and hysterical photos. Truly the best times when J & B are in town!

All in all, the first Saturday in June is ALWAYS a favorite day of mine. Every. Single. Year. The countdown is already on till next year (unless Allie and Jenn convince Elle and I to come to Los Angeles again……).
