What To Wear To Your Office Holiday Party

Putting together a holiday outfit can sometimes be stressful, especially if it’s for your office holiday party. So to help with that, I’ve put together some of my “best practices” for what to wear to your office holiday party!

Keep your audience in mind

Obviously this is extremely important. Although you’re technically outside of work, you still definitely need to keep in mind that you’re going to be around everyone in your company (upper management included). You’re not going to wear that tight red dress with a deep v-neck. It might be really cute and festive, and you probably look great…BUT it’s not an appropriate holiday outfit for your work party.

Think about textures and fabrics

If you’re really stumped on what to wear, think about holiday fabrics and textures. Velvet is HUGE this season, along with jacquard patterns and really all things plaid. Textures are just a great way to immediately feel more festive. I got this velvet jumpsuit in October, and knew it would be perfect for the holidays. I’m actually thinking about wearing it to an upcoming holiday party for a brand tomorrow.

Why jumpsuits work

Jumpsuits are a great option because they’re fashionable and easy to wear. Sure, they can be a bit inconvenient when you have to go to the bathroom, but they work. There’s just something about a good jumpsuit. They look chic and you don’t have to think too much when you’re putting together an outfit.

Throw on some heels and accessories to make your look fancier

Since there’s not much thinking involved with a jumpsuit, you do get an opportunity to play around with your shoes and accessories. I always throw on heels to lengthen my legs. Depending on the neckline of your jumpsuit, add a statement necklace or earrings to your look. And when all else fails, a bold lip always makes a look more dressed up!

I cannot tell you how awkward it is when someone walks into the office party and it’s like they are headed to the club after. I always feel bad but also like KNOW THAT YOUR BOSS IS THERE!

YES! Like I’m super close with my boss and I would feel VERY uncomfortable if I was in something even borderline inappropriate!

Love this look for a party! It’s just the right amount of festive without being the automatic center of attention when you walk into the party – which is a no-go for me at work parties!
