Fall Essentials: Steal vs. Splurge

With fall rapidly approaching (and the first day of October is tomorrow), it’s time for me to switch over my wardrobe. That means replacing my sleeveless dresses, two piece sets, and open toed shoes with sweaters and vests, blanket scarves, and boots.

Although I probably have enough clothes to last me a lifetime, there are still some new “essentials” that I need to get in my closet ASAP. With that being said…I’m not made outta money (I wish I was), so I need to be somewhat economical/responsible when purchasing 😉

Stuart Weitzman Boots vs. Steve Madden Boots

We all know how much I love Stuart Weitzman (remember these?). But to be able to afford a new pair every season is just unrealistic for me…right now. (Thanks, student loans.) I’ve been seriously coveting these Highland boots (and also these) but with that $800 price tag, I knew I needed to find another option. And that’s when I stumbled upon these Steve Madden beauties. With a price tag that’s over half off the Stuart Weitzman boots, this was a no brainer. Done and done.

Dior Sunglasses vs. Express Sunglasses

It seems like every cool blogger owns a pair of the Dior “So Real” sunnies. So when I looked into buying a pair, I just could not justify $600 for a pair of sunglasses that are super trendy. With my Celine sunglasses, I was able to justify the cost because they were more of a classic style. I looked and looked for sunglasses similar to the Dior ones, but came up short-handed. Until I walked into Express and found these. They’re so fun and I love that they’re mirrored with the tortoise frame (seen on Instagram here). Don’t worry, they’ll be making their way onto the blog verrrrrry soon.

J.Crew Cashmere Sweater vs. Halogen Cashmere Sweater

I am a huge sucker for cashmere. I own more cashmere sweaters than I like to admit (and even steal my father’s cashmere once in a while). For me, J.Crew is always the go-to for cashmere. Although their price point is still fairly high, it beats Club Monaco‘s cashmere price, and the quality is pretty awesome. But during the Nordstrom sale, I couldn’t resist on Halogen’s cashmere for $90 (now $128, which is still unreal). Although the quality isn’t as good as J.Crew, it still is a great cashmere option and definitely will keep you warm!

Treasure&Bond Leather Jacket vs. Urban Outfitters Leather Jacket

I’ve been on a leather jacket kick lately. I’ve been seeing them everywhere and every outfit I put on in the morning I think to myself, “Wow a leather jacket would be the perfect addition.” Every “perfect” leather jacket is way out of my price range (like this Treasure&Bond one), but an unexpected retailer saved the day. Yep, this Urban Outfitters option is as close to perfect in my budget as I’m going to get.
