Trousers have been pretty on trend for a few years now. When trousers first started showing up as a trend, I feared that I wasn’t going to be able to pull them off at all. I thought the trend was really only for tall, straight-shaped gals, so I pretty much just stayed away from them. After wearing this magic pair for 2+ years, I’m GLAD I got over the idea that I couldn’t make them work for my body shape!
The Best Trousers I’ve Ever Bought
Okay that’s a lie. I was actually gifted my first pair of these trousers. But since then, I’ve purchased three more colors. They are in such a great fabric – a drapey Tencel/cotton blend. The fabric overall is midweight, making them perfect for all season. I’m 5’2 and I have the 30″ inseam, but I did have them hemmed so I can wear mostly with flats, sandals or a small heel. Every time I wear them, I get compliments on the fit. They are super sleek and I love that I can wear them with all of the tops in my wardrobe – tanks, tees, sweaters, and even cropped third pieces!
Why I love trousers
As someone who owns SO many pairs of denim, I have to admit it’s nice to be able to swap my jeans for a pair of trousers. Sure, they might appear to be dressy, but I think that’s because we associate them with work and suiting. Which yes, of course, that’s just ONE way to style trousers. I personally think trousers can be worn in so many different ways, but the main thing? THEY’RE COMFORTABLE. Serious question: What more could you ask for when getting dressed?!
How to style trousers
The best thing I find with trousers is that you really don’t need to change your style. There are so many ways to repurpose this pants. I’ve worn them to meetings. I’ve worn them to dinners. I’ve worn them to parties in the day. I’ve worn them with flats. I’ve worn them with heels. I’m pretty sure I’ve worn them to travel too. The limit TRULY does not exist. Not only are you comfortable, but you’re also “appearing” to be more put together. In the summer, I love wearing them with a simple tank. As the temps drop, throw a sweater on as a top. Don’t worry, I didn’t forget about the weekend – just throw on a cool cropped sweatshirt.
One of my favorite little style tips is that I ALWAYS wear a belt with my trousers. I think it’s the perfect finishing touch!
Where to buy trousers
Because these are so trendy, SO many retailers offer great pairs at all different price points. I also LOVE how many different fabrics, patterns, and silhouettes trousers come in now. Below are some of the best I’ve seen on the Internet, but I’m still loyal to this pair.
