Elle’s Edit: Why I’m Excited for Summer

Ah Memorial Day, the unofficial kick-off to summer.

I love summer and always have. There is something about the warm weather and sunshine that makes everyone a better version of themselves. Sure there are things that I hate about summer, really just one thing, the constant sweating. Living in NYC is MIZ during the summer just because it is the concrete jungle and is so hot but other than that it actually isn’t all that bad! The summer tends to clear out a bit with locals going to the shore, out east, or just traveling and it is nice to have the city a little more chill. This weekend I am excited to kick off summer with my two besties (I’m sure you can guess, Allie and Dana) and I sure can’t wait! We are going to have much needed bestie time and just CHILL.

As we kick off MDW I wanted to share with you some of the things that I am most excited for this summer and would love for you to do the same in the comments!

Outside dining. Fun fact, I love eating outside. If I have the opportunity to do that I take full advantage of it! There is nothing better about eating a great meal with friends when the temperature is comfortable. It makes me feel SO New York and I love every minute of it.

Rosé. Another thing that I love! Move over red wine, it is summer water time! Rosé is just so good, there is nothing better than a nice refreshing glass of wine or if you are feeling fun you can get frosé. My one rule though is that it can’t be tooooo sweet, there are some rosés that I can NOT tolerate and if that is the case my go to white wine (was last year so TBD if I feel the same this year) is a nice glass of Sauvignon Blanc.

White jeans. People either love white jeans or hate them. I personally love pairing them with a cute and flowy top or even a t-shirt. You can dress up the jeans or just be super casual. My mom definitely enforced the no white jeans before Memorial Day and after Labor Day rule so I am excited to whip out these bad boys. I actually don’t listen to that rule 100% because sometimes you just want to wear a pair of white jeans in early May or in the weeks leading up to the end of September but regardless I am excited to pull them out of my closet.

More friend time. Last summer I was busy ALL the time. I am trying to say no to more things and be more in the moment. Out of the 12 weekends last summer I was gone for 10 of them. That is something that I made sure I would NOT be doing this year and I’m pretty proud of myself. I want to spend more time with my friends and actually live in NYC. We don’t have this weather forever so I want to take full advantage of it.

Summer Fridays. Last summer I only took 1 Summer Friday because I was so busy at work. I swear I would get an urgent project or request from Senior Leadership at noon every damn Friday. Of course it was frustrating when the whole entire office clears out by one but this summer I am going to make myself take advantage of it!

Traveling. As I mentioned earlier I didn’t want to travel much this summer. I am excited however for the trips that I do have planned which includes this weekend with the girls! I’m not going to mention our other trip(s) that we have planned since Dana and Allie may kill me but they are going to be good ones!

What is your favorite thing about summer?
