Elle’s Edit: Why I Love Sports So Much

I have to say, I really love girly things and I really love sitting back and watching the game with the guys.

Growing up, sports were always a big part of my life. As an only child, I found different ways to bond with my parents and spend quality time with them. With my Dad, that was watching sports. We would always watch the Notre Dame, Yankees, Giants, and Rangers games together along with golf during the season. It is something that we love doing together and I hold it very near and dear to my heart. There are only a couple of friends that are girls (hi Dana) who appreciate sports just as I do and more importantly actually understand the game. There is a major difference between watching the game and ACTUALLY watching the game if you know what I mean. There is nothing worse than sitting with friends and having one person talking about something else or constantly asking what is going on. I have zero patience for that!

What I love about watching sports is just the ritual.Whether it is every Saturday or Sunday during the Fall, the weekends just revolve around the game. It sounds silly since it is a sporting game but to me it is something bigger. It is tradition and makes me feel like I am “home” without being home. Sports have taught me many life lessons of sportsmanship, determination, and honesty. I loved playing sports all my life (tennis, golf, lacrosse, squash, and field hockey) and I am proud to say it is made me who I am today. I also love how it brings people together. There is nothing better than a good tailgate at a football game and meeting so many new faces. Everyone in the stadium or field is cheering for the same team (for the most part) and there is a great sense of pride and joy from that.

Do you like watching sports?
