Two weekends ago I went to The Blog Societies annual conference as a GUEST not as a blogger.
Let me back it up a bit, my friend Allie, was asked to do a workshop/be a speaker at the annual Blog Societies conference two weekends ago at the beautiful Barnsley Resort in Georgia (you can read more about what exactly we did in Allie’s post). Allie so kindly asked me to be her guest and without hesitation I said yes. Why? Well, Allie is my good friend and I wanted to support her (this was her second speech of the WEEK..go girl) and to also to make a long weekend out of it. I knew going into this weekend it was going to be all about blogging, which is something that I can’t really relate to as I am not a blogger but I really did get a lot out of it. Funny enough, my company is a parent company to one of the brands that was one of the sponsors. It truly is a small world!
If you don’t know what the Blog Societies is, I highly encourage you to learn more about it. The founders Cathy of Poor Little It Girl and Jess of My Style Vita are two incredible ladies and created an amazing brand and a successful conference. The conference allowed us to mingle with brands, meet other fellow bloggers, and teach us some key lessons on how to advocate for oneself and grow our own personal brand. Again, I am very thankful Allie brought me along and I was THRILLED I was finally able to meet my dear Internet friend Emily (wish we got to hang more), Ashlee, Hillary, and a couple new faces such as Shelby and Kristin.
What I learned this weekend was how intense the blogging world is. This weekend wasn’t the first time that made me open my eyes to it just because my friends Allie and Dana live and breathe in this world but this weekend definitely reiterated that. There were SO many girls across the country that came to this conference to network with one another and to also grow their blog. The blogging space is so competitive and these girls work their assess off to be seen and to be heard. I have more respect for these ladies and I wish them all the success in the world.
I want to thank Allie for inviting me as her side kick (I would like to think of myself as useful because I was responsible for clicking through the slides during her presentation and I kept an eye on the clock) but also to Cathy and Jess for letting me tag along! If you are a blogger, I would highly consider checking out The Blog Socieites and if you become a member, definitely attend next years conference. You won’t want to miss it!
Have you ever been to a blogging conference before?
