Are you a morning person like I am?
I have always been a morning person even since I was a child. I think it is because both my parents are morning people (they “sleep in” on the weekends until 6:45am). It would drive my friends crazy at sleepovers (hi dana) when I would be wide awake at 7am on the weekends and ready to jumpstart the day. I find that if I am productive in the morning, I am productive all day. I wanted to share with you all what a typical morning looks like for me especially during the work week.
5:30am– alarm goes off. I like to either workout in the morning or go into the office early to get “me” time before the crazy happens. I have never pressed snooze in my life so I typically get out of bed right when my alarm goes off. I pick up my phone and check the texts I received when I was sleeping and scroll through Instagram. Terrible habit that I am trying to break but hey 5mins isn’t TOO bad.
6:00am– head off to the gym if I have a workout class at 6am or hop in the shower if I am going to work.
7:00am– workout class is done. I rush home (I prefer to shower at home since the showers at Equinox or Soul get busy)
7:15am– turn on the Today show and listen to the news as I scroll through the blogs that I follow on Bloglovin. I’ve been doing this for years and absolutely love doing it. The today show is very casual when reporting the news and has fun stories to brighten up my day. And I love reading blogs and that creativity that comes form it.
7:30am– make a smoothie and continue to read blogs
7:40am– dry my hair, do my skin routine, and put on my makeup
8:00am– out the door
8:10am– wait for the subway and read my horoscope (been doing this for years)
8:15am– on the subway reading The Skimm and the Morning Brew (my favorite newsletter)
8:25am– arrive in Hoboken and walk to the office
8:30am– put my lunch in the fridge, drop off my bags, and make myself a cup of coffee and fill up my massive water bottle
8:40am– start attacking the emails and get the day going!
Having a morning routine that I stick to every single day really helps me out. A Huff Post article writes, “a morning routine sets the tone for the whole day, and if you do each day right, you’ll do life right”. I wakeup the same time every day even if I don’t workout because I find it easier on my body. If I don’t workout in the morning it gives me an extra 1-2 hours in the office to work on some projects and feel less rushed getting into the office.
What is one thing you do during your morning routine that you enjoy?
