Elle’s Edit: How To Stay Healthy

More than ever, it is important to stay healthy.

I would say over the past couple of years I’ve taken some measures to make my insides a little more healthy and I am glad I did because it has prepped be for the world of COVID. It is SO important right now to take care of your body because your body and immune system will take care of you when you need it to. COVID is very scary and I think the scariest part of it is that everyone deals with it differently as symptoms vary per person. I wanted to put together a list of some things that I have been incorporating in my daily routine that I believe have kept me healthy as I encourage you all to try these as well. We have to stay healthy together!

Vitamins- I swear I go through periods where I am SO good about taking my vitamins and other times where I am horrible. It honestly is just based on my mood which is so stupid, I know. However since March I have to say I’ve been taking my vitamins every single day! One can argue it is all in my head but hey, I think it is helping. I take my women’s multivitamin and a teaspoon of Elderberry syrup every single day! The elderberry syrup is great for your immune system and I think it has done wonders.

Eating an orange a day- I love oranges and I honestly have been eating one either every day or every other day since march. I love starting off my morning with an orange because I am obsessed with citrus for some strange reason. The vitamin C definitely is great for your immune system and hey it is yummy too!

Getting sleep- Sleep is SO important. I always try to go to bed around 10pm since I wake up at 6am every day to start working. On the weekends I sleep in until maybe 6:30 and that is because of my stupid internal alarm clock. It is so frustrating but I haven’t been able to sleep in for years. I’ve been really bad lately about waking up in the middle of the night and checking my phone so for the past 2 nights I am charging my phone in the kitchen so I don’t look at it when I randomly wake up during the night. I truly think it is making a difference in my sleep and should have been doing this years ago.

Limiting stress- This is the hardest one for me because work is just pure stress for me and has been for months. However, I do try to find ways to limit that stress but it is easier said than done!

Washing hands constantly- Do I need to remind you to do this? Don’t think so! Even though I washed my hands obviously before (duh) I wash them more now. Even if I touch like a door handle to check my mail I always come back in and wash my hands. My hands at the beginning of quarantine were SO dry but as sad as this is I think my hands have gotten used to it by now.

Washing surfaces often- When I say surfaces I mean door knobs, light switches, remotes, and PHONES. Think of how disgusting your phone is. Sorry but it is true! Always try to use a wipe to clean it or wash your case often in soap and water. I don’t even want to think of how many germs there are on that thing but it is reality.

Eating “healthy”- This means eating your fruits and vegetables! Luckily all types of fruit are in season right now so everything is extra delicious but I always try to make a conscious effort when I cook or eat out during the week.

Move your body- go outside even if it is for a quick 5 min walk! Again, it helps stress but also keeps you sane!

How are you staying healthy?
