Elle’s Edit: How To Not Get Stressed This Holiday Season

The holidays are a time where we tend to say yes to everything. However, don’t be afraid to say no.

If you are anything like me, the holidays are a crazy time. I honestly hate how busy I am because it is my favorite time of the year and I want to sit back and enjoy it. Between work obligations, holiday parties, gift shopping, and traveling, it is very overwhelming. I can’t believe that a week from today it is Thanksgiving. Someone please tell me where did the time go? When I come back from Florida in about 10 days, it will be time for me to head back down here again for Christmas. Woof. I know you all feel the same way so I decided to round up what I plan on doing this season to keep myself sane.

You don’t have to go to every single event.

I always say yes to almost everything. I think it is because I would have serious FOMO or I simply just feel like I am letting people down. It is okay to have a night to yourself and don’t come up with fake plans to say you are busy. Be honest, people will understand that you just need you time.

Don’t get overwhelmed with gifts.

Gifts are so hard to buy for certain people. For example, my parents and even my closest friends. What I found helpful was just bookmarking some sites for gift ideas and purchase them along the way. Don’t stress yourself out especially when buying gifts for your parents. They love just spending time with you especially if you don’t see them very often. Now for the friends, what I decided to do with my closest friends is that we would go out for dinner to celebrate holidays (birthdays and Christmas) instead of buying gifts. It is so much more special than any gift.

Have movie nights.

I love Christmas movies SO much. I could watch Christmas movies 24/7 if I could. I’ve realized that this relaxes me so when I’m stressed I will just turn on a movie. It instantly gets me in a better mood and helps me forget about the craziness going on.

Treat yourself.

Get your nails done, get a haircut, get a massage…you deserve it! Again, the holidays can be one of the most stressful times of the year but don’t let it be. Don’t forget about taking care of yourself and enjoying this special time.

What are your tips to stay relaxed during the holidays?
