Elle’s Edit: How To Not Be Stressed

Stress, we all go through it. But how do we overcome it?

If you are anything like me you tend to stress yourself out over the dumbest things. Work causes me stress, my personal life causes me stress, you name it. I’m not sure what causes this but I blame it on my Type A personality. I put so much pressure on myself to succeed and make everyone happy. I’ve realized I will never be the go with the flow type of gal (I sure am trying) but I’m finding ways to chill out some more.

Prioritize Tasks.

Once the holiday madness is over, I find myself really busy at work. It honestly doesn’t make much sense considering it is the beginning of the year, we closed out 2019, but now that everyone is back in the office it is go time. Since I recently started a new job, I find myself very overwhelmed with all the emails I receive. I am on the sales/planning side of things so I literally communicate with everyone (across the country) whereas in my old role was just a few key important people. During this time I have relied heavily on my planner which serves both as a calendar and a to-do list and One Note where I make sure I take notes in every meeting. Staying organized has been a huge help for me and I can’t encourage it enough.

Say No.

I feel like I haven’t seen my friends in a LONG time since I was only in the city 8 days in the month of December! I feel like everyone was that way too and now that we are all back it is happy hour and dinners galore for the month of January. Even though I love seeing my friends, I need to realize I need to have me-time every now and then especially during the work week. When I’m at work I am constantly with people so when I get home I like to be by myself, even though it can get lonely. I wrote about this in the past but I have done such a good job with saying no to people. I realized I can’t stress myself out with plans and can’t be everywhere at any time just to please people.

Take care of myself.

Self care for the win! I love a good relaxing evening or day where I binge a new show, read a book, do a face mask, you name it! Do what you love to do and just take a deep breath. Everything will work out and we have to always remember how grateful we should be for life and all the blessings that come with it!

Tune people out.

Living in NYC can be stressful in of itself. What I’ve recently been doing when I commute to and from work is put on my AirPods and listen to a podcast or music. It helps with the noise of all the people and makes me feel more “zen” during this busy time of my day. This could also be a great time to meditate especially in the morning and start your day the right way. I haven’t gotten into meditating but it is on my list of things to do as I know it is so good for me and my well-being.

What do you do to be less stressed?
