Can you believe it is already halfway through August?
I mean seriously, where has the summer gone? I feel like it was just MDW where Allie, Dana, and I were heading out east for the long weekend. My goal this summer was to not be as busy as last year because by the end of summer I was just so overwhelmed. I felt like for the first time in a long time I actually enjoyed the summer. I was more in the moment and enjoyed spending it in the city (minus my weekend trips out of the city). Since it is almost September, I wanted to highlight some things you can do now to enjoy the last few weeks of summer.
Take one last trip. This weekend Allie and I are heading to Georgia to attend the TBScon conference in Georgia. Allie invited me as her guest as she is speaking this year!!! I’m excited to get out of the city and stay at a beautiful resort. It is going to be HOT but I know Allie and I will have fun. I’m taking off work on Friday so we are able to spend a long weekend down there. Then at the end of August/early September I’m going down to Naples to visit the fam which I’m looking forward to as I haven’t been down there since Easter!
Eat outside as much as possible. I love eating outside if restaurants have outdoor eating. Here in NYC we can really only do that May-September and to be honest for 3 of those months it’s almost too hot to even sit outside. At the end of August and for the most part of September the weather is nice and cools down a bit at night making it more comfortable to eat outside.
Walk outside as much as possible. I’ve mentioned this before but I love walking. I would pick walking over taking the subway any day. Dana is probably laughing and wanting to kill me as I write this because I always make her walk with me. (SORRY NOT SORRY). But when winter rolls around that just doesn’t happen so I am making sure I walk 24/7 until I can’t!
Eat all the fruits. When was the last time you had a piece of fruit? For me, it is every single day. But guys, the fruit is so damn good right now. Why? Well it is summer and basically everything is in season. Make sure you eat it now while it is juicy and prices actually are affordable!
Reunite with friends you haven’t seen all summer. In NYC a lot of people head “home” to their parents on the weekends or go to the shore, hamptons, you name it. I feel like I haven’t seen a majority of my friends all summer because everyone is so busy. What I love about the end of summer is that people slowly start coming back on the weekends and staying.
And of course. Drink all the rosé. If we are being honest, rosé is only good in the summer. With that being said, make sure you drink it before fall rolls around!
What are your plans for the rest of the summer?
