Elle’s Edit: 25 Lessons I’ve Learned In My 25 Years

In honor of my 26th birthday (woof!) on Saturday, I wanted to share 25 life lessons that I’ve learned over the years.

I was planning on going more in depth for each and every one of these but I figured y’all would get tired of me after reading five. As I reflect over my first quarter of my life (cringing writing this), I realized that my life is pretty damn good. I’m incredibly blessed with my friendships, my family, my job, my health, and all aspects of life. If my 10 year old self would see what I accomplished since then I think I would be very proud. I laugh as I’m typing this because when I was younger I said by the age of 26 I would be driving a mini van (it was my dream car as a child..judge me), married, and with two children. Well, none of that is true. I’ve come to realize that life doesn’t have to always go as planned and I have to trust God with his plan for me..and with that, I know that everything will be a-okay!

Take care of your skin

Cherish memories with loved ones

Reading can actually be enjoyable

Eating out is expensive

Boys suck

Work hard

But still have fun

Go outside your comfort zone

Make new friends

Travel

Splurge on yourself

Working out can be fun

Life doesn’t have to always go according to plan

Patience is hard to come by

Educate yourself on world affairs and politics

Reality TV may be trash but watch it anyways

Cooking can be a burden but learn how to do it

Take risks

Be your own best friend

Learn how to be independent

Never fake it until you make it

Get rid of toxic friendships

Smile often

Don’t assume that people have your best interests at heart

Trust that God has a plan for you
