An Easy 4th Of July Outfit

I’ve never been one to really go all out for a holiday outfit. But sure, I like to make sure I am at least partaking in some of the festiveness of holidays. Technically, I’ve already worn my 4th of July outfit… but oh well.

When it comes to festive outfits, there’s definitely a fine line between “normal” and “very holiday”. I’d like to think this outfit skews towards normal, with pops of 4th of July colors! Here are some of my tips on how to create the perfect “normal” 4th of July outfit:

Accessorize with pops of color

Red, white, and blue can be very bold when worn together. That’s why I’m sticking with accessorizing with pops of red and blue this year for my 4th of July outfit! Adding a fun patterned scarf or your favorite red handbag, can be the easiest way to incorporate 4th of July colors into your look. Oh and how about a fun red lip? Or maybe even a pair of red statement earrings and a top knot! The opportunities are endless;)

Don’t try to out-do ‘Merica

Seriously, let America do her thaaaang. Let her be all about the red, white, and blue today. But you? If you want an effortlessly chic 4th of July outfit, don’t over-do it with the colors of our American Flag. If you’re still looking to get in the spirit, opt in for a fun tank (I feel like I owned this..in a bigger size…when I was younger) or these American flag shorts! And if you want to make somewhat of a bolder statement, just wear this gingham dress. I just got it and I’m so obsessed with it! The sleeve details are so perfect and you know how I feel about a good off the shoulder piece!

When in doubt…go simple

The summer is all about easy dressing. When you’re struggling about what to wear, a crisp white outfit (with a red headband) or a subtle blue dress (complete with a straw tote) are perfect options for hanging at a BBQ and watching fireworks. Pair either of these looks with white sandals to show off your fresh pedicure (I ALWAYS go for Big Apple Red) and you’re good to go. These white sandals are super comfortable and I’ve honestly worn them every single day since I got them last Thursday. I know we all love America, but I think we’ve had enough of the bold patriotic references — so that means I will NOT be wearing my American flag bikini.

For me, I’ll be sticking with my new shortalls (I love how they’re called that). I jumped on the overalls bandwagon last summer, and decided I need a white pair this year. I also am SO happy they’re shorts, because my denim overalls were just way too heavy for the heat. At first, I was a bit nervous about how I was going to style them, but I put this look together last minute before we left Newport…and I love the way it turned out! If you follow me on Twitter, you may have seen that I wrote about my next few outfit posts being worn with hats. And this is obviously one of those looks. I’ve been OBSESSED with buying and wearing hats. I just feel like they’re the perfect accessory for literally every look! I actually bought another one last night…couldn’t help it — I got it for $13 after my rewards and other discounts so it was basically free. Sorry not sorry.

This outfit is so cute and so perfect for the holiday. I agree with you, you don’t want to over do the whole red, white, and blue thing, but still incorporate it into your outfit.
