A New York City Christmas: Wollman Rink

Much like The Plaza, I’ve had some great memories at the latest stop on my New York City Christmas tour. Up next: Wollman’s Rink.

When I was younger, every Christmas season, my dad and two of his coworkers would bring all of the kids (there were 6 of us) into the city for a fun day. One year, one of the stops was Wollman’s Rink.

Uptown holds some of the most magical places — perfect for Christmas in New York.

We’d begin our mornings by getting breakfast at The Plaza or The Intercontinental. One year we came to Wollman Rink. I can’t remember who skated with me (imagine my dad got on the ice? NO SHOT), but I do remember skating over to my dad, who was waiting on the side for me and my sister. I honestly don’t remember what year it was, but I do know I haven’t  been back to Wollman Rink since. After some fun, the adults would take us to FAO Schwartz (RIP, but it is coming back), and we were all given some money to shop with.

Seriously some of THE best memories from when I was a kid. I swear I walked around that store FOR HOURS.

Fast forward a lot of years, it was fun going back to Wollman Rink and watching the skaters. I picked up a hot chocolate (with extra whipped cream, of course), and just took in the beauty of Central Park. It was unseasonably warm, so I took off my coat to take some photos. It was a perfect day for people watching, chatting with my girlfriends, and soaking in everything New York City has to offer.

I wore this cozy cardigan with my favorite booties at the moment (I have them in two colors). This outfit shows off my truest personal style. I mean look at these neutrals (and yes, stripes are very much a neutral too). If I had to choose any outfit to wear all day every day, this would definitely be it.
