Confession: Up until this past Sunday, I was convinced I would never go on a cruise ship. Ever.
Confession #2: I like 300% thought about “Oops! I Did It Again” when I wrote the title of this post. Ya know what I’m talking’ about? The part when the conductor is like “ALL ABOARD!” and then Britney is all like, “But I thought the old lady dropped it into the ocean in the end?”. Ok. I need to stop.
On Tuesday, I shared what I wore to a brunch event I attended with Celebrity Cruises. Today, I wanted to share a bit more about the day through these photos – it was truly an unexpected event.
When I stepped onto the cruise ship and we made our way to the upper deck, I was already blown away. I looked to my left and saw the most beautiful skyline in the world. Then I look to my right, and was greeted by a glass of Veuve Clicquot Rich……you could imagine my excitement. I’ve been dying to taste this new and exclusive new product since I heard about it during the Veuve Clicquot Classic. It was delicious. So delicious. The best (and weirdest) part? It was mixed with peppers. Yeah, actual peppers. And it was so refreshing.
So far so good.
Next, during a little mix and mingle, we spoke with some of the staff and crew members. It was so interesting to learn more about cruises and all of the amazing places Celebrity Cruises takes its passengers. It definitely change my perception of cruises! And now I’m basically itching to go on one.
When brunch was set up, I was not prepared for what I was walking into. Just picture this: educational mimosa and blood mary (complete with mozzarella and shrimp) bars and a buffet that would literally make your mouth water. I was so ready to eat. I never thought cruise food would be something as spectacular as the food prepared by Michelin-star Chef Cornelius Gallagher. I had eggs benedict over pancetta, french toast, fresh bread, and sushi. I was stuffed…and it was pretty awesome 😉
I also had the pleasure of speaking with the first American female captain. It was truly an honor to talk to Captain Kate McCue (follow her on Instagram here); she was so down to earth, so funny, and really interesting to listen to her journey to becoming a captain.
I didn’t think the day could possibly get any better.
Finally, we headed to another area of the ship and sat down in front of a lot of wine, wine glasses, and a beaker. Yes, like in chem class. And what did we do? We had a wind-blending class! It was so fun learning about different types of wine and how they paired with others as opposed to standing on their own. After learning a little more about blending, each table was challenged to blend their own wine and the winners would receive a fun gift!
I knew Allie, Elena and myself had this one in the bag.
AND WE WON! We each are getting a bottle of our wine sent to our homes along with two sets of Riedel wine glasses! I’m so excited to drink the wine we actually blended (ok, fine, Elena’s math skills really did the work)! How freakin’ cool is that?!
But wait, there’s more.
I was brought out a chai latte….but not just a regular chai latte. IT WAS A CHAI LATTE WITH MY FACE ON IT. YES, MY FACE!!! Unreal.
And finally….
When we left, we were sent off by the crew and staff themselves and were handed gift bags – complete with a bottle Veuve Clicquot Rich (eeeeek!), a bottle of wine made directly on the ship, and delicious chocolates (they’re gone already, ooops).
A huge thank you to Celebrity Cruises for the most perfect and unexpected day of the summer!
