I really used to think that grey just wasn’t a color for me. I still really consider myself more of a brown/beige girly (just take a look at my sweater collection), but I’ve really come to embrace the color grey. Most of my pieces are geared towards casual grey outfit ideas, but can also be dressed up if need be.
For example, these pants. I’ve spoken A TON about the Everlane Way High Drape Pants (I wrote an entire post on them here). I was SO excited when I saw they launched a wool version. Naturally, I needed to try them out. I COULD have went for the brown houndstooth, but I decided to give grey a try. And let me tell you, these are just as good as the drapey version!
These were the EXACT grey pants I was looking for. I already knew I’d love the fit, but what I really love is the subtle herringbone pattern. They are perfect for day to night or even work to weekend. I’ve worn them a ton of different ways, but this look that I’m sharing today is actually my favorite.
Casual Grey Outfit Ideas
When you think of wool trousers, you’re most likely going to associate them with work. I know, I know, the TikTok girlies have been wearing trousers as SUPER casual outfits. But I think there’s something super classic and traditional about wool trousers specifically. These wide leg options are so sleek and can be worn SO many different ways. For work, I loved pairing it with this cashmere vest and my oversized jacket blazer. I was also feeling a pair of heels – which I barely wear anymore. I think they just completed the whole “I’m going to work” idea.
I’d also wear these pants with a cropped white button down. This is DEFINITELY more classic corporate, but I think there’s something chic and cool about it these days. I’d pair it with this belt and maybe some loafers. And when in doubt, there’s nothing more classic than a crewneck cashmere sweater.
Now you might think this pants are NOT for part of some casual grey outfit ideas. But they definitely can be. The easiest way to transform these pants to your “weekend” pants is to swap the shoe. Obviously, we’re going with a sneaker on the weekend. I’ve been living in these from DSW. Next, I’m keeping it tonal and wearing this grey sweater. Or if we’re really talking casual, then pair with a sweatshirt. Yes, it’s really that easy!
