The Striped Essentials With The Perfect Pair of Boyfriend Chinos

These stripes have been with me for almost three years now. And these boyfriend chinos? Well, they’re new.

If you’ve been following from 2012 (or even 2014) and on, you would know that I went through a serious “preppy” phase. I blame my best friend from college, Claire, for bringing me into J.Crew and styling me in our all J.Crew looks. After all, she was just doing her job as a VIP stylist for the company.

One thing that I never bought was a pair of boyfriend chinos.

Maybe it was too preppy for me (the last preppy look I wore was in London), or I just didn’t think I was cool enough to wear them? I guess it didn’t help that all I wanted to wear with these pants is this striped shirt. Who knows. What I do know, is that I’m going to be living in this pair. And I MIGHT even get them in another color. They’re the perfect amount of slouchy. Technically, they’re called the “girlfriend” fit. But, I still think of them as boyfriend chinos.

I totally felt like a much shorter and less chic version of Jenna Lyons. She always wears heels with slouchy pieces, and I love the vibe of her looks. PS: Are we sad she’s leaving J.Crew?

As for this striped shirt, it’s been a staple in my closet for almost 3 years. It’s the perfect “throw on and go shirt”. Oh and who doesn’t love a good nautical stripe? But now that I think about it, I’ve never worn it on the blog! Shame on me. But I promise it’s a good shirt.

Saint James makes such great shirts for men and women and I think they’re definitely worth the price tag. If you’re not ready to splurge on stripes, I found a TON of awesome options under $50 (a lot are under $20!):

Such a great look! I love how slouchy chinos make it feel a little less put together and a bit more fun!

Looking so comfy and chic – AND you managed to do baggy without looking sloppy which is something I struggle with! xo
