Then & Now: J.Crew Elsie Heel

Are you looking for the best high heel? LOOK NO FURTHER. A few weeks ago, I wrote about the infamous Jackie cardigan. And thanks to the overwhelming sense of nostalgia I got from that, I decided to see what other pieces I had some J.Crew that have since been re-issued.

The Elsie pumps were my most prized possession from 2014 to probably 2018 when I needed to let them go because they were quite literally falling apart. I know, I know. I SHOULD have taken them to a cobbler, but I also was in a weird transition phase with my style – so to the donation pile they went.

BIG MISTAKE! HUGE!

J.Crew Elsie Pumps

Well, I guess not really, because a few months after I started working for J.Crew, the Elsie was re-issued. And honestly, it’s even better than the originals, in my opinion. More on that below…

But real quick can we PLEASE appreciate the photos above? Those are PRIME. BLOGGING. PHOTOS. AM I RIGHT?! For your viewing pleasure, feel free to go and look at these posts from 2016ish: here, here, here, and here.

BEST HIGH HEEL FOR EVERY OCCASION

So what makes the new Elsie different from the old?

The heel is slightly flared as opposed to the slightly curved heel of years past. And then a small detail is that there’s a silver foot bed. I don’t know why I thought that was so fun – but I like it. Other than that, it’s the same Elsie we knew and loved. The heel is 3 1/2 inches, which I believe is actually the same as the previous style. The heel height makes it SUPER easy to wear as your “couple of times a week” heel. And then finally, they’re still made in Italy – just icing on the cake.

I feel like I can confidently say that the Elsie is THE best high heel for any occasion. I’ve walked around the city (minimally, but still walked blocks in them!) without fail. They’re perfect for the office. They’re perfect with a pair of jeans. They’re just PERFECT, PERFECT, PERFECT (if you’re on TikTok, you know).
