The Bell Sleeve Top | How I Re-wear My Favorite Pieces

I’m really just recycling this bell sleeve shirt. Same top, new (except it’s really old) dress, who dis?

THE LOOK | bell sleeve top (love this one), denim jumper, black suede booties, bow handbag (similar here), celine sunglasses

This outfit is a prime example of how important it is to have versatile pieces in your closet. I last wore this denim jumper with a bunch of layers (oh, I totally forgot my tights for that shoot). And if we’re really throwing it back, I first got it in the summer, so I wore it in Charleston for a super simple look. It may not seem like a great versatile and transitional piece, but it 100% is.

And then there’s this bell sleeve shirt.

I really picked it up on a whim last summer, but quickly realized how easy it is to style! If you can’t remember: I wore it with a pair of paisley pants, a midi skirt and my velvet dress – three different ways, yet really simple looks. I guess this look is technically a cop out since I already styled this bell sleeve shirt with a dress. Different vibes, I guess, right?

The older I get, I’m realizing how much I love re-wearing pieces in my closet in different ways. It always reassures me that I made a good purchase. And as a fashion blogger, I know sometimes it’s “expected” of me to constantly get the newest clothes to style. Realistically, that doesn’t always happen, and I like showing you how it’s OKAY to re-wear items in your closet. I also like showing how the pieces you already own can easily transform to match your personal style as it changes over the years. Here’s what I consider when looking at pieces I love re-wearing:

Look at your “off” season pieces.

I didn’t think I would wear this denim jumper during colder months, but with the help of some strategic layering, I made it work. Don’t count out those types of pieces, you never know how you’ll be able to wear them in unexpected ways!

Switch up your shoes and/or accessories.

Most of the time, I get away with wearing the same pair of jeans just by switching out my shoes (Side note: I JUST got these bow mules and I’m basically obsessing over them – the price is ridiculous too). If I’m wearing my favorite cashmere sweater for the third time in a week, I add a necklace to switch it up a bit.

Mix it up: Edgy vs. Feminine

Let’s just take my suede and leather jackets. Wearing my suede moto with dresses is always a fun play on the feminine vibe (styled with dresses here and here). And then there’s my leather jacket that I love wearing with a more egdy look (I did love styling it with a dress too though).

If it’s a basic piece, add or take away a layer to create a distraction.

If you’re wearing your favorite striped t-shirt all the time, that means you have a pretty great t-shirt. So style it in new ways! Wear it with your suede moto jacket, layer it under a cozy sweater or denim jacket, or wear it tucked in with your new go-to denim and flats.

And there ya have it! This is how I try to re-wear and rotate pieces in my closet, making (some of) them ready to wear all year ’round!

PS: Happy Spring! Although it doesn’t really feel like it with all of this snow still on the streets:( But a lot of it melted this past weekend, so maybe things will FINALLY start turning around!

This is why you’re a fashion genius — I love the way you re-wear pieces! You’re getting so much longevity out of your wardrobe by remixing outfits! I really need to take notes and layer more often!

Totally agree that it’s best to re-style your items…It’s unrealistic to have a new piece everyday! And I think this jumper is the cutest thing, and I remember when you styled it over the summer and loved it then, too!
