Everyone has the list of must haves for there carry on: A book, laptop, charger, neck pillow, etc. But have you ever thought about packing THESE things in your carry on.
Over the last few years, I’ve become an “expert” at packing my carry on bag. I always have the essentials, but the more I travel, the more I realize there are those few quirky items that most people probably wouldn’t even think to pack!
Headphones with a jack
This has been the NUMBER ONE PAIN IN MY BUTT on recent flights. I always bring my wireless Beats, and always get so annoyed when I end up wanting to watch a movie. (No, seriously — JetBlue has THE best movie selection in flight! It was so hard for me to choose.) So what do I have to do? BUY HEADPHONES. Ugh, sneaky airlines!
Lysol wipes
Ok clearly this isn’t news to anyone, but AIRPLANES ARE GROSS. Naturally, Lysol wipes seem like a no brainer. I actually didn’t realize this until this year. Now cleaning down my seat and tray table are A MUST. A lot of people also mentioned this when I asked in my Instagram story!
Large bottle of smartwater
Sure. Airport prices are HIGH AF. But like, 1. I love smartwater more than anything, and 2. Do we really think airplane water is filtered? Do we really think it’s tested for cleanliness? EH. I’m skeptical. I always buy a HUGE bottle of smartwater. Not only are you not drinking creepy water, but you’re also keeping yourself hydrated! My skin gets unbelievably dry on planes, so it’s always good to hydrate.
Chapstick/moisturizer
Speaking of hydrating, I always make sure to have my chapstick and moisturizer in my bag. My lips are always the first part of my body to get dry, and then they crack, and then I typically get a cold sore (TMI, but it’s true…any “trauma” to my lips causes one for me UGH). It’s a vicious cycle in the winter, so my goal is to make sure my lips are always hydrated. I swear by First Aid Beauty’s lip balm, btw. Next up, my hands. Super dry on planes. I try to do a skincare/moisturizing routine while I’m in flight. It helps to pass the time and keep things lookin’ fresh AF for when I hop off the plane.

- Sheet masks (Audra) — OMG BRAVE, I’ve only ever worn eye patches on a flight!
- Inflatable footrest (Emily) – THIS. IS. GENIUS.
- Vaseline for your nostrils (Audree) — OK, when Audree told me this I was like WHAAA?! BUT. Her sister is an NP and putting Vaseline in your nose helps prevent germs and gross airplane air from getting all up in there!
