2020 sure has thrown a wrench in our holiday plans, huh?
While I TRULY should not be complaining, I would be lying if I said I was really bummed that due to COVID-19, my friends and I aren’t doing our annual Friendsgiving. And right now, even plans with my family are up in the air. I really don’t want to go into the holiday season with a poor attitude, so I decided to get creative with the help of Christmas Tree Shops AndThat!
There are 4 people that I’ve probably seen the most since March: Nick (we quarantined together from March-September LOL), my sister, and my brother in law. So even though I spend the most time with them, I still suggested that we do a little Friend/Famsgiving. These three people were really the ones there for me throughout 2020, and I feel SO lucky to have them in my life. So why not celebrate each other?!
While it’s super important to be smart, since the 4 of us have been together for long periods of time already, we thought this was a perfect idea!
staying cozy
Even pre-pandemic, I was never one to get SUPER dressed up for the holidays. Sure, I wore dresses sometimes, but for the most part — cozy was king. So I’m really just piggybacking off of that and dressing in my coziest outfit. Think: sweats, thick socks, slippers, etc. You know, ALL THE COZY HAPPINESS. And the same goes for decor. Cute, family-oriented decor.
Thanks to Christmas Tree Shops AndThat!, we were able to find cute towels with fun sayings, neutral tables runners, tableware, and glassware. The table centerpiece we picked up is my FAVORITE!
what’s on the menu?
I’ll let you in on a little secret: I don’t really love the food on Thanksgiving. Ok ok, let me clarify: I don’t really love the main course. I’m more of an appetizer and sides kind of gal. With that in mind, my sister tried a pork and sweet potato recipe. She actually did a test run of it and it was so delicious!
outside hangs
Keeping in mind that it’s definitely safer to hang around others outside, we want to make our Famsgiving as safe as possible. Luckily, my sister has a nice backyard with a fire pit and multiple heat lamps — her and Chris are fancy, I know. Another bonus is that they also have a space to mount a TV outside. If the weather allows, we’ll definitely be spending some time outside. So helloooooo, cozy outfits and lots of blankets. We were able to pick up some extra throw blankets at Christmas Tree Shop AndThat!
have fun!
Probably my most IMPORTANT reminder: HAVE FUN. While 2020 is just pure craziness and not normal at all, we need to keep in mind that small joys keep us going. Being able to celebrate three insanely important people (my boyfriend, my sister, and my brother in law) in my life is a blessing in itself.
love this cute set up and your adorable look! and totally with you on not being a big fan of the main course – way more into the sides and dessert (not pumpkin pie though)
