3 Ways To Take Better Care Of Yourself This Spring

My closet isn’t the only thing that’s getting taken care of now that it’s Spring.

I took care of my Spring wardrobe this past weekend, and it got me thinking. I realized I needed to take advantage of the change of seasons.

Treat yourself

We all know I like to do this. I look at it this way: I work extremely hard. There’s no denying that. And when I pay my blog expenses, bills, AND put money into savings, why SHOULDN’T I treat myself? I know I shouldn’t have to explain myself, but I know how materialistic blogging can make someone seem. So while, yes, I typically treat myself more than the average person, I also work really hard to buy myself things.

Anyway…

On this occasion, I was feeling pretty proud of myself for the blog partnerships I recently completed and new ones I’ve received. On Friday, I decided to walk uptown to check out some new Gucci shoes. In case you didn’t know, Gucci loafers and slides are probably the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever owned. They are worth every single penny to me, and something I really enjoy buying. (Also, I blame Matt for this addiction because he bought me my first pair.) When I got to the shoe salon, I laid my eyes on two pairs that I was desperately loving. I was SO torn between the two, that I decided to go big or go home…and I went big. I knew the raffia ones would be SO perfect for Spring and Summer. And the bees and stars were just too cute. Allie and my coworkers have them and they’ve basically been haunting me. I consider these my “fun” pair.

And it just so happened that when I got home, another pair (that I bought on Poshmark) was waiting for me. Talk about a good Friday, huh?!

Take this opportunity to treat yourself to something, big or small. Start the season off on a high note.

Learn something new…or refuel a passion

Much like the beginning of a new year, Spring is a great way to hit the refresh button on life. For me, I realized that I needed to get back into a work out routine. Three years ago, I would be at SoulCycle at least three times a week. A year and a half ago, it was Equinox. Then I sort of fell flat. I was not motivated at all, and just super lazy. I felt like I didn’t have “time” to work out, and thought there were more important things. Over the last year, I think I’m doing a better job at not eating like complete shit, but I knew I needed to get back to doing something that was good for me mentally and physically.

And that’s SoulCycle. So I bought a 30 pack, and committed to going 3-4 times a week. No ifs, ands, or buts. Of course my favorite (and only) instructor, decided to go to Mexico for a week. Luckily, next Monday’s class is already booked, and I’m really looking forward to getting back on the bike and into the swing of things.

Get into a routine

Lately, I’ve been taking my skincare more and more serious. I ain’t getting any younger! I’ve been taking the time to really look into products, figure out what my skin likes and needs, and also get into the habit of doing a routine every single night. I have to thank Linda for getting my butt into gear. She is like a beauty guru to me, and gave me all the recommendations. Up until about three weeks ago, I didn’t know what toner was or what the difference between a serum and oil is.
