I recently posted this top on Instagram, and got into a couple of conversations in my DMs about there not being enough feminine tops out there! Since I started working at J.Crew, I noticed that I’m gravitating towards these cute tops more and more!
I think I would stay away from feminine tops in the past because my personal style isn’t overtly girly or feminine. Any time I would buy something SUPER girly, I just didn’t feel like myself. But on the other hand, I really have always enjoyed those “cute” details: an eyelet trim, puff sleeves, and dare I say…ruffles? I think my trick to styling feminine pieces is this: stick with it being the focal piece of your outfit. If I wear a more feminine piece, I’m not going to wear it with a feminine flowy skirt. Much like the photo above, I’m probably just pairing my more femme tops with jeans or shorts. In reality, I’m wearing these tops as fun alternatives to my favorite tank.
