How To Prepare For The New Year

I know, I know, I shouldn’t be rushing the holiday season.

How To Prepare For The New Year by popular NYC fashion blogger The Champagne Edit

But it’ll be over before we know it, and I’m not mentally prepared for the new year. Not in a bad way, either. It’s just that my mind has been so focused on shooting holiday content and I’ve been RIDICULOUSLY busy at work.

The holiday season is one of our busiest market seasons (Fall), and we’re working right up until Christmas to make sure orders, fabrics, and models are all set up and ready to be released to our overseas teams before everyone goes on vacation. If things don’t happen, we’ll probably face delivery delays…and that’s never fun. Never a dull moment around here during that time. You can read about this model detail process in my A Week In The Life Of Merchandiser here. (Only imagine it being a bit more crazy since it’s the holidays.)

ANYWAY…

With 2018 right around the corner, I’ve been thinking about ways to prepare for the new year.

Take a step back and reflect.

Although we’re saying goodbye to 2017, it’s a good time to reflect on the good, the bad, and the best of the year. It’s a great opportunity to look at what worked, what didn’t work, and what I want to improve on in 2018 — mostly for Pink Champagne Problems. For me, I realized that more meaningful content resonates better with my readers and helps me connect on such a different level. I realized I don’t make a ton of money off of commission-based things, so my readers really are looking for word-of-mouth recommendations to become more aware of products, services, etc. This is where sponsored posts with brands come into play. I definitely want to do more in 2018, and if the last three months of 2017 is a reflection of what’s to come…I’m pretty excited.

Don’t set goals or resolutions.

I’m not a great goal-setter or resolution-maker. I tend to fall off the wagon if I “make” myself do something. That’s why I’ve thrown resolutions and goals out the window. This doesn’t mean that I’m not always working towards something, because I am. I just prefer to keep things on my radar and work towards them – at the pace I want to go at.

The Clean Start

New year, new you, right? I know many people swear by this, but I think it’s kind of cheesy. Which is obviously not a bad thing. And I OBVIOUSLY have used this as my MySpace and Facebook captions circa 2009-10 and probably up until I graduated college. Fine, I’m caught red-handed;) While the saying might be cheesy, I think it’s a pretty genius concept. If the start of a new year is what it takes for you to get your butt into gear, then go for it. Hit the ground running with the “new year, new you” motto. Even if you don’t need that “clean slate” like others, it’s definitely the perfect time to use the new year as an excuse to shake things up!

What about you? How do you prepare for the new year? Let me know in the comments below!

The flow of your dress and those sunnies are so cute on you! I just talked about this briefly in my post talk- my boyfriend and I do a debrief note to each other in our stocking about our favorite moments from the year, what our hopes are for the coming year and things we could work on together as a couple. They’re so great to look back on and make sure you’re on track. Happy Holidays!! <3

It’s so hard to remember that a new year is right around the corner after being bogged down in holiday content! Love these points, definitely in the same boat as far as commission income too!

“Myspace captions”!!! LOL! I love this! This dress is awesome. Did it fit TTS? I just think it would be so comfy if I sized up (I’m pregnant). Thanks so much! Love your suggestions. You’re totally right!
